Lorex LH3361001 Vantage EDGE2 Digital Video Surveillance RecorderI own several of the LH320 Edge+ series recorders and have had no problems with those. This Edge2 model does not allow me to view video remotely. I returned it and the replacement unit did the exactly the same thing. To test I put the settings into a Edge+ series unit and it worked fine. Do not buy this if you want to view remotely!

This was my first DVR. It arrived as described and I was able to set it up and view the cameras on my iPad and iPhone. The Lorex customer service, though, is absolutely terrible. I was put on hold, asked to type my phone number to be called back later, and would get called back on a Sunday evening 2 weeks later. Worst customer service ever, so be prepared to figure things out (ports, etc.) yourself to get it working.

I've been using Lorex for quite a few years now and this product is good for the average person but if you are wanting more detailed management there are better ones. The web management functions are pretty limited and you have to be at the console to do most setup work. The console management with touch screen is a little simple for the advanced user. The scrolling wheels are cool but hard to stop on the setting your wanting. It was a replacement for a failed unit for a customer so I replaced with the closest unit I could find so they would be able to operate it with little or no learning curve. That was accomplished but I will look for a little better Lorex DVR the next time I need one.

I don't normally have time to create reviews for products but this solution has been so problematic that I had to warn potential buyers.

First off, the technical support is atrocious. Most of the staff wants to help but they are completely hindered by inept software and less than impressive hardware. I have worked with a number of issues regarding the DVR and in each case the issues get diverted away. The Android app no longer works due to an update pushed out earlier this year. Support wasn't even aware of the problem until they were forced to ask. I encourage you to do you own research and look up Lorex Mobile Edge and see all of the users complaining about the currently inability to connect to the device.

The device has very crude software and offers very limited interaction when trying to perform even the most basic tasks. Further, the system allows interaction with PC and web interfaces. We have never been able to get the web interface to function properly. Tech support could never get it either. The PC client is very slow and requires a great deal of resources from the PC.

Overall, I would say the product is a good idea that is spoiled by poor software, terrible interactive methods, and underwhelming support. Please buy this product only after you have done the research.
