I really wanted to love this media player but I can only like it. Its about my 10th media player over the years and I wanted an inexpensive gift. It looks good, screen is bright and clear, and has a nice feel. Although the shiny black case is a fingerprint magnet. But it has one fatal flaw which I'll get to later.

First the good news. It does most things they say in the ads, especially at this price. Getting media on it is easy drag and drop. There are few pleasant surprises. Touchscreen is responsive after calibration. Scrolling through long list can be done by scrollbar or one tap-hold on the last visible list item and the player will scroll through all 1000 songs in the list. You can multi-task listening to music with other compatible functions like ebook reading or photo viewing. Unlike another reviewer, I played it for 3 hours straight before the battery indicator even reached half.

Now the bad news.

CAMERA

5MP camera photo quality is so bad as to be useless. Hazy and totally out of focus. A 1MP camera would give better photos.

as a result you can't use player as camera, video recorder or webcam as advertised

VIDEO

Video playback is strict only videos converted to 320x240 or smaller will play. Which if you have an existing avi collection or youtube could mean hours of converting. Almost nothing I downloaded played without conversion. I've owned other sub-$50 players that were more forgiving of resolution.

MUSIC

Sound quality is good. Controls are standard fare with ID3 tags, and responsive.

No playlist support. That's surprising because when you start offering 8gb players that can hold 4000 or more songs is a requirement. You can create on-the-fly playlists if you don't mind tediously tapping on 4000 songs.

The loudspeaker volume is loud enough in most cases. But since the radio needs the earphone cord for an antenna you can't use the loudspeaker to listen to the radio.

Can't rotate and can't zoom.

OTHER

Start-up takes about 15 secs. In a world where 4 or 5 sec is average, that seems really long.

Given the price, I would forgive some of the misses for the price but advertising a 5MP camera that doesn't work is a deal-breaker.

I recently purchased this item for my daughter's birthday. This is probably the sixth different brand of media player we have purchased. We love it! It's about the size of my blackberry and it has a good feel to it. It doesn't feel or look cheap. The screen is sensitive so you don't have to tap over and over for it to work and it changes quickly. It also has a stylus. There are lots of surprises like the qwerty touchscreen keyboard, calculator, and the picture quality is really good. I don't kow yet how durable it will turn out to be, but for the money I spent I am very happy with the quality. The only negative about this would be that the software they sent with it doesn't allow you to load youtube videos directly onto it. I was able to get around it, though. I just went online and downloaded a free program called winfx free video converter and converted the youtube videos to a format that the software they sent could convert and load onto the device. It was actually pretty simple once I got it all figured out. So overall I would give this media player an A+!

I bought this MP3 player for my husband for Father's Day. The battery sucks so bad that you can only listen to it for 30 minutes at a time no matter how long you charge it. We charged it for 8 hours and it still would only play for 30 minutes and then it would die!

I am very upset because I no longer have the proof of purchase to get my money back. That's $70 down the drain.

Maybe we got a lemon but beware if you do buy it and make sure you keep all packaging and your receipt.

I am very happy with this player. I wish I could get more apps for it like you can for the ipods but It does what I need it to do, play music and take pictures.

My only issues are that it will only take TXT formatted e-books and there is no place to store the stylis. If you like to read on a data pad I would suggest an ipod touch, kindle, or nook as they have more book selections. There is a TXT converter out there that is free but too much of a hassel right now for me. Since I like to feel the book in my hand and turn paper pages it doesn't bother me too much.

It's a good little player. I like how you can organize your music and just play one folder and repeat songs.
