The long cable run, does not appreciably affect, whatever I am sending through the S/PDIF output port, be it audio, video or both. I realize that it is just a basic RCA to RCA patch cable, but it is much better than stringing three or four smaller ones, with adapters, when I need a longer run of cable. It works well with everything I have used it on, which requires an RCA to RCA plug, cable.Even with HI-Def video, the quality degradation is not enough to cause any panic or alarm. If it is too much, then I obviously need to get the two hardware items closer, so a shorter cable will suffice.
Oh, and they work great to hook up a nice subwoofer, too. :-)
