The only real negative is that it doesn't have a flash.I bought this camcorder right before my husband and I went on our long awaited honeymoon. After a few minutes of fiddling around with it, I figured out how everything worked. I was very happy with it during our trip. We never did submerge the camcorder, but it did get splashed at the beach, with no affect. The memory card allowed alot more filming than originally anticipated, but we were not filming in FHD. I was slightly disappointed that after pausing a video and then pressing record again that video did not resume, but instead started a whole new video clip, but nothing a little editing couldn't fix on the computer. We got home and started viewing our trip. Picture and sound quality was great when viewed via HDMI cable to the tv! After spending about 20 minutes downloading everything onto my computer I had great pictures and video...but NO SOUND!!! So my husband downloaded it onto his computer and had the same problem. He was able to get sound by playing it thru quick time, but without that program on my computer, I can't watch it with sound. Bottom line...good camcorder for the money, comes with everything you need (HDMI, USB, carrycase, carry strap, batteries) except the memory card, easy to take with you, great recording and picture taking...just make sure you have the right program to be able to hear everything you film!

I wanted to like this video camera. I really did. I ordered it specifically for the fact that it uses generic AA alkaline batteries (aka the batteries you can get at the convenient store up the street and not have to deal with crappy tech support to order an over-priced lithium ion battery replacement).I knew what I was getting. I have had vcams that performed better than this one. I knew that pictures and video capturing would not be all that spectacular, but I reiterate, I wanted a video camera that uses generic batteries.
What I did not expect was that the video and pictures would come out so grainy like early model vcams. It is certainly NOT HD quality. Secondly the zoom function only works for taking pics, but you can not actively zoom in while recording. That is ultimately what made me return this product. Sure I know to some it's not a big deal but it was for me because that should be a standard function for any video recording camera (especially one claiming to be "1080p HD").I really wanted to like this camcorder REALLY. The price was right and it seemed to have all the features I wanted.
PROS:
-easy video, great results
-nice included software, cables, lanyard. case everything you need.
CONS:
-this thing eats batteries. Don't expect much from the 2 AA's they include. Get yourself a rechargeable set and keep a spare set handy.
-still photos are impossible to take. I love the sturdy waterproof feel of the buttons but when you must press so hard, the still pics always come out blurry.
-no tripod hole.
sadly, I'm returning this item in hopes of finding a comparable one I like better.

Took it to my vacation in Mexico and used not only in fresh water but also in the sea. It worked just fine! It is a great value for the price, looks great, and not too much of a hassle to carry around. The only con I might have is that the battaries did not last as long as I expected. Maybe it was the battery brand (Defiant brand sold at Home Depot). I have to try new batteries just to make sure. In any event, worked very well and pretty cool that you get the cable to connect directly to the hdmi port on the back of the tv so you can watch the videos on your tv screen...great! I dont think you can do too much better for the priceworth a shot.
