Day 6 Plotwatcher Time Lapse Video Camera

Day 6 Plotwatcher Time Lapse Video CameraThis camera's use is not just limited to hunters. We recently installed one on a business in South OKC to record the street prostitution traffic to show to police and city leaders. Did an excellent job with no learning curve. The only drawback is the fact there is no way to secure this camera from theft no holes for a lock, cable or anything. We used zip-ties, but it wouldn't take a thief 5 seconds to steal this camera even when zip-tied. We may upgrade to the latest version (twice as expensive) because it has additional features and holes for a cable lock. This video was shot on the 5 second interval.

I acquired two Plot Watchers and bought a couple of after market armored boxes for them, as well as cable locks to secure them with. I have one on an old portable basketball goal aimed at my remote gate which also encompasses my mailbox, the ten key remote gate access, as well as twenty yards or so down the street. I have another situated on my house a hundred and thirty feet away watching my long driveway as well as the first camera just mentioned. Mine are set to take a photo every ten seconds. That way I get up to eight days worth of power out of the four double A batteries each camera requires. I have eight gig flash drives in each. Those easily handle seven or eight days worth of photos. I have had the cameras now since February of this year, and it is now almost December. I have captured many interesting things with them. Living next to a wild area like I do, I have a problem with rabbits and ground squirrels doing a frontal assault on any young plants that are not toxic. I see the activity and where to set my live traps. I have hit the jackpot in eliminating them thanks to these cameras. Also, these are excellent security cameras. I have a neighbor who is not the best and since I have set these cameras up, he hasn't pulled any stunts like he has in the past. At least not during the day time. If you want to save any activity or photos, do it easily on your computer hard drive. I use a Windows to set the time and date on mine after erasing them each time. Easy to do. But I view them on an Apple. And in case you haven't read about these cameras, these take a photo as often as every five seconds all day long. They don't have to be tripped by a motion sensor. That means, they capture anything within their field of view. Like I said. I have one working a half football field length of driveway. The video I am including depicts the neighbors parking in my driveway for seven or eight minutes. Note the time/date stamp.

Plotwatcher works well in daylight. Be sure to have full battery charge. It will record in many areas. small enough to put almost anywhere. Somewhat easy to use. Be sure that the flashdrive you use in it has no LED inside it case. This will cause the plotwatcher to use the batteries really fast. Also has NO IR night vision. That was my mistake. Cheaper flash drives have accent lights built right into their cases. Follow the instructions that comes with the Plotwatcher or go to their website. There you will find lots of helpful info, movies, and even another Software/Firmware download to make your Cam work more efficent. Resolution is really great for the cost and Color pictures to boot. Ive used mine to watch my house place while Im gone. Works great. You have to have a computer to watch the movie from the Cam's software. Would buy another one in a heartbeat.

Bought one of these and two of the Primos DPS version. This one is a keeper and Primos is getting their stuff back today. Out of 6 days in the field Primos DPS took two afternoon sessions and NOTHING ELSE. Primos support? No answer. FAIL! Primos Viewing Software? FAIL. Slow, buggy import process.

This one took video 5 of 5 days in the field. The "Search" mode is a huge plus over the Primos version. Fast Forward to the action. Plotwatcher movies were ready to go right off the card. Bravo Plotwatcher

The Plotwatcher allowed me to do a quick scout of a large area. I set it up on a farm road and could see 100 yards down it. I was able to find the crossing that a large buck was using everyday and the time he was moving. I took that buck only because the plotwatcher helped me identify that buck's movements.
