I read the 1 review written that did mention the motor sound. I ordered one anyway knowing that Aiwa is a reputable name and because I owned a cassette player of theirs years ago that I liked but has long since broken down. I figured maybe that reviewer just got a faulty one.First thing I noticed once I opened the box was how flimsy and light weight this cassette player is. The battery door feels so delicate I am afraid it will be the first thing to break and probably sooner than later....
Second was the motor sound the reviewer mentioned....Yes, it is loud and very annoying.
Very disappointed since I am a cassette tape fan too. I am an 'older' reviewer and much of my disappointment comes from the fact that quality is soooo poor these days yet prices keep going up. I do remember when things lasted for years and were built with pride and excellence....
Oh well, back to Sony despite the fact their quality isn't what it used to be at least it doesn't have the motor noise...I've had this product for two months. I'm pleased with how it works. Finding cassette players these days at a reasonable price is difficult. The reason I gave only 4 stars is because I can hear the tape turning when it plays and it can sometimes be annoying. Overall though I am pleased with the product and happy that I don't have to buy CD or MPs versions of some of my favorite tapes.
Buy Digital AM/FM Cassette Walkman Now
This walkman is great,it gets good reception and plays cassette tapes well. The only thing I didnt like about it was the belt clip.it is held in place with a plastic screw and it broke very easily.Lots of presets and the hold button stops it from accidently switching stations.I gave the Walkman 3 stars because the unit does not have a jack for an AC Adapter, and the box and instructions are in Spanish. FM reception was excellent, Am has fair reception. I did get the motor noise in and around 1190 on the AM dial that drowned out the audio of the station I tried. I did not try the tape portion so I can't say anything there.I received this product a few weeks ago for use as a cassette player. The product never has worked right. There are gaps in the sound when playing a tape which makes this product useless to me. I ordered the same type of product (sony)from you and had the same problem. This is why I went with aiwa. I have tried different tapes and read the instructions to no avail. My other portable machines play my tapes perfectly. I am frustrated and won't risk buying anything electronic online again. Sincerely Fred.
