The price was right and looked like a new and possibly good competitor to other portable DVD players offered on Amazon. I almost returned it without opening because the user's manual (available for download) states (on page 8) that you can expect a 1.5 hour play time. This turns out to be incorrect. The battery mAh has been upgraded on the current product but not the manual. Nor does jWin have the fortitude to state the actual play time in the specifications here. I tested the player with a full charge, source being an 8 gb memory card via a converter and through usb. The coding was straight DivX with its converter.
Results with this configuration:
play time -2 hours 41 minutes before notification of discharged battery.
full, bright display (the JD-VD768 has power-saving features including dimming but this was not used).
the play time included the attachment of two earbud headphones sound is great except for the volume which seemed low this may be a DivX artifact or an issue with the JD-VD768 (not sure). There are hardware and software work-arounds.
Not bad for a cheap unit.
Other comments:
The case is OK but not great mid-range quality but who watches the case.
The DVD player works fine but, again, I did not use it for these measurements.
In spite of what others say in review of the other portable players, a 2Gb SD card (which can be plugged into the back of the unit) is probably adequate for most airline watching. 2GB filled with DivX (standard non-HDTV quality) will have a total playtime of about four hours. So, SD cards are cheap and there is no need to muck around with adaptors for the USB port. The rendered picture is great but no quite HDTV quality.

I bought this at my local PX on base. I had another JWIN portable DVD that was great, but my son (Capt. Destructo) broke the plastic female housing part to charge it. It's a reliable DVD player overall, but I didn't check to see if it came with a car adapter. It didn't. Luckily, I have the one from the other DVD player. The battery doesn't last much longer than a movie, so if you're on a long drive, a car adapter is necessary.Read Best Reviews of JWIN JDVD768 7-Inch Portable DVD Player Here
This dvd player is okay for the size, but there is not a lot of sound coming out of it. The only time I could really hear what is on the dvd is when my kids are quiet. I have the volume all the way up, and I still need to sit really close in order to hear it. The screen is really small too.
