This DVD player is excellent. It has so many goodfeatures that I didn't know would come in so handy until I actuallyused it. You can use all the functions without the REMOTE which might not sound spectacular, but if the remote has disappeared you still have control, which is a Big problem when I experienced this with other DVDs :) I put five movies in or CD's and just sit back and relaxe. That comes in really handy when you are going for that double feature and don't have to turn on the lights and blind everyone, just to take the movie out put the new one in and sometimes see what side you need to turn it. Just makes it a lot easier. I haven't tried any of the Sony DVDs to compare the picture quality but up against the toshiba there is no noticeable difference. I am very picky when it comes to that and I am satisfied. I wasn't at first until I got to compare, but now I see that it is OK, It is average. Though I havent experienced anything better, so I don't know! The only drawback is that it is bulky and it isn't the best color. I would rather it be BLACK but, oh well. I like to take it to friends houses since they don't have players and it is a little tough to lug around. But I dont know too many people who carry their DVD players with them. SO no big deal :) So all in all, at first I was seriously thinking about taking it back and trying a Sony DVP-S530D to stay in my price range or a Toshiba but after using my friends and then using mine I have done a 180 and realized I GOT A HECK of a deal! So any questions on how things are going with it just write me and I'll be glad to help. Maybe by then I will have tried the SONY!I already had a Panasonic DVD player and was very happy with it. The picture and sound quality both met my expectations. When I was looking for a second DVD player this one really stuck out for a few reasons. First I like the Panasonic product, and second it allowed me to remove my multi-disc CD changer. I'll be honest, there really aren't a whole lot of reasons to get a multi-disc DVD changer unless you are just really lazy and want to load your next ten hours of movies at one one time. But the ability to use it as a CD changer makes this unit real nice. If you are like me you already have a lot of peripherals in your system and combining two of them is a real help. This DVD player is excellent. This was a Big problem that I experienced with other DVD players. It is great when I rent 3 or more movies and I can just put them all in and never have to mess with them until it is time to take them back. That is probably the most convenient aspect of the player for ME! Also when going for the double feature you don't have to get up and BLIND everyone with the lights just to exchange the DVDs and see what side of the DVD you want or need to play. Just makes things a lot easier! I haven't tried any of the Sony players to compare the picture quality but up against the Toshiba there is no noticeable difference. I am very picky when it comes to picture quality and I am satisfied,Though I haven't experienced anything better. It definalty gives an excellent picture and doesn't lack any quality. I did notice that the REDS were a little strong when I watch the movies but that may just be my TV, So nothing to worry about I'M sure. The only drawback is that it is bulky. I like to take mine to friends houses if they don't have a DVD player and it is difficult to lug around. Thanks!I've really enjoyed this player, with only small quibbles: -it has a difficult time playing CD-R media -there are no time display choices (i.e. it only displays count up) -it sometimes seems stubborn in choising a disc for removal (conversely, the stubbornness allows you to turn the player off and resume a DVD from the point you quit). Great random play for CDs (it wisely ignores DVDs in this mode); Has all the outputs that I need. The remote. Haven't found anyway to override regions (not that there's any real reason to do so).
