Ritek Ridata DVD+RW 4.7GB, 8X, 25-pack

These were the same price as my local Freddies was selling a 25 pack of the slower 4x Sony -RW which they tried to tell me was the best but that's untrue. I've used 10 disks so far and all have worked perfectly and at 8x speed I can burn a full one in less than 10 minutes. For about $1 per disk these were a great buy and the plastic storage case is nice. If your DVD drive supports +RW these are the ones to get. +RW is better than -RW because it has faster speeds and drag and drop ability. Update Feb 14 2012 I've used every one in the pack to store everything from full disk ISO burns & DVD rips, with ISO burner free software takes about 8 minutes to burn a full 4.7 GB disk, to drag and drop video files in flash drive mode & they all worked fast & flawlessly, money well spent. As long as they keep functioning, I'll have enough to last for ever. DVD+RW is the best and these disks couldn't get any better.

In fairness to Ritek, I am changing my review, something I should have done long ago, as my first review blamed the discs for a problem that was actually due to the hardware I was using: After burning some of these on another optical drive I concluded that it was the LG DVD burner that was the problem, not these discs. The LG burner was apparently destroying the discs: after only 10 burns, I was getting messages I had never seen before [or since] that "This disc is nearing the end of its useful life." If that happens to you, try another burner. I would definitely recommend these disks, they are a great value if you're into using DVD-RW's.

Note that neither CD nor DVD re-writeables should be relied on for long-term storage.

These discs are a great buy. They are cheaper than other brands like Sony and Verbatim but perform just as good if not better. I have re-written over them about 20 times and they still play & copy fine.

First time using this brand. 4 stars only because I havent used them all. 5 stars so far.

Love burning at higher speeds.

DON" BUY:: After using these for a few weeks I am saying DON'T BUY. Works a few times then; won't record, won't erase, won't recognize burner and player, won't reformat. Used other burners and players. These have been garbage. Would be cheaper to use regular dvd's. One more time, DONT BUY.
