brite-View Air SyncHD DX (BV-2822) Uncompressed 1080p HD Video/ Audio Wireless Transmission Kit (Mu

brite-View Air SyncHD DX Uncompressed 1080p HD Video/ Audio Wireless Transmission Kit - BlackI purchases this item from Amazon for $264.99 couple of days ago. The price has already dropped on this thing. At the time of this review the price is $259.95.

The Amazon "Technical Details" are wrong as there are NO Composite inputs on this thing. There are only 2 component inputs and 4 HDMI inputs PLUS 1 HDMI out on the transmitter which is marked as loopthrough output. On the receiver there is 1 HDMI out.

What's included in the box:

* 1 Transmitter with 4 HDMI + 2 Component inputs and 1 HDMI loopthrough output.

* 1 Receiver with 1 HDMI out.

* 1 Remote control to use with your receiver so that you can switch the input source on your transmitter from your TV2.

* 1 HDMI cable.

* 3 IR blasters that can be connected to 3 source devices connected with the transmitter. These 3 blasters are really connected on 1 wire which is not very long.

* 1 IR extender that will be connected to your receiver so that you can control the 3 devices to which you connected the 3 IR blasters from your TV2 location.

* 1 Quick start guide.

* 1 User manual.

* 2 AAA batteries for the remote control.

* 2 power adapters. One for the transmitter and the other for the receiver unit.

MY SETUP:

* DishNetwork Vip 722 Satellite box connected to HDMI 1 input of transmitter.

* Oppo BDP-93 Blu-Ray player connected to HDMI 2 input of the transmitter.

* IR blaster cable connected to the transmitter which has 2 of the 3 blasters connected to each of the above devices i.e. I have 1 blaster to spare which is not useful to me as my device are NOT stacked vertically on top of each other because the DishNetwork Vip 722 generates too much heat. So my devices are sitting next to each other and the cable is not long enough to connect 3 devices in this setup.

* HDMI out (loopthough) connected to the TV1.

* IR Extender cable connected to the receiver.

* HDMI out of the receiver connected to TV2.

PROS:

1) Very easy to setup as there is nothing really to it other than connecting the units to the power outlet and connecting the cables to your devices i.e. there is NO SETUP required. The quick start guide explains how to connect this thing.

2) When it works it works really well.

3) As others have said it you can save money by extending your Sat/Cable box to another room without paying to the Sat/Cable company for another receiver on a monthly basis. This is really its plus point. If you are trying to extend any other kind of HDMI signal things may not work well for you. Read below about the WIDE mode ON only supports 1080i and 3D Blu-Ray is not supported.

4) The IR extender works well i.e. I can use the original remote controls of the 2 deivces I connected sitting next to TV2.

CONS:

1) This unit is very sensitive to 5GHz band usage inside your house. You have to know what all equipment you have that is using the 5GHz band. The unit works well as long as other devices do not interfere with it at all and every other equipment plays well i.e. the other equipment is not using any tricks to make it work or boost its signal.

My TV2 is a Samsung 2011 model which is connected to Samsung Soundbar HW-D551. This is a 2.1 channel soundbar i.e. it has a wireless SubWoofer. Before buying the Brite View BV-2822 I did not know that it is using 5GHz wireless channel. Now I have the problem where I cannot place my BV-2822 receiver close to the TV/Soundbar as I get no signal from BV-2822. The receiver needs to be about 3-4 feet away from the Soundbar for it to work. Also sometimes I have to turn my Soundbar off so that BV-2822 can connect to its base unit because if the Soundbar is ON BV-2822 will keep hunting for signal for hours. The diry fix is to turn off the interfering device so the BV-2822 can connect and then you can turn on the interfering device. Really annpying as hell!!!

2) This receiver does not have any ability to do a wireless channel lock. In other words once the receiver has established a connection with the transmitter a predefined channel (band) is selected for you. You can pick another channel (band) if the signal is weak. But the units do not have any ability to lock on this channel so when you power down the receiver(put it in standby mode) and then turn it back on it will start hunting for a new channel. Also any interuptions in the 5GHz band could cause the receiver to go into finding another channel(band) for you which is really annoying. Interuptions can come from DECT phone ringing, accedentially moving spot of BV-2822 receiver and now the Soundbar signal is interupting etc. Because there is no channel lock the unit will automatically start hunting for another channel(band) for you which is annoying. Aaaaargh!!!!

3) Turning the receiver on i.e. going from standby mode to ON mode takes about 1 minute or more. The manual says it takes about 1 minute to boot up. That is why lot of other reviewers before me are recommending to keep both the transmitter and the receiver units ON all the time. This wastes energy/electricity.

4) I tried to play 3D Blu-Ray movie in my Oppo BDP-93 Blu-Ray player and all I get on the TV2 is an error that says "NO supported format found". So if you are trying to wirelessly broadcast 3D in HD it will flat out not work.

5) The unit operates in either WIDE mode OFF which is the default or WIDE mode ON. You only have 4 channels i.e. 2 in the lower frequency band and 2 in the upper band for the unit to use in order for the wireless setup to work. When the WIDE MODE is OFF which is default you will get 1080p support i.e. I can stream Blu-Ray movies in 1080p. But if you turn WIDE mode ON it only support 1080i. With WIDE mode ON you get lot more channels for the unit to cycle through and find one that works specially when you have other 5GHz wireless devices in your home. For details about what is supported go to the product website at and click on the SPECIFICATION tab.

6) When I keep the receiver ON (as do not want to wait 1+ minute every time I turn my TV2 on for the BV-2822 to boot up and establish the wireless connection since there is NO Channel lock) and my TV2 is off the source input light blinks in blue color along with the solid blue power light. When I turn on the TV2 the source input light will stop blinking. I really do not understand why Brite-View choose to have the light blink? The source input light will blink slowly when the receiver is in channel hunting mode where as the light will blink faster when the wireless connection is established and the TV connected to it is turned off. The same light is solid when the TV connected to it is turned on and the wireless connection is established and working properly.

At this time I am really debating should I return it back to Amazon as it does not stream 3D movies. Also it is very picky about the 5GHz band i.e. I have to place the receiver away from my soundbar.

FYI, if you have new cordless DECT phone in your house which is sitting near the receiver and/or transmitter unit you may run into problems as the DECT phones use the same 5GHz band as is used by this unit.

The picture quality of this device is sharp and the signal is strong. I have it placed directly in the room above my DirecTV DVR/satellite receiver and it looks as good as the original signal. The distance is about 20 feet but its going through a floor and there's no loss of signal. This saves me from having to purchase another DVR/receiver and pay the monthly fees for the service and gives me access to the content on my DVR from another room. I have no issues with it being compatible with my DirecTV DVR. It's connected through the component video & audio inputs and the picture & audio are great. I highly recommend.

Was set up and ready to go within 5 minutes. "Slave" TV is in kitchen, about 60 feet from the transmitter. Loop through works like a charm.

Quality of the transmission is perfect. No blotchiness. Full HD.

I am tickled to death! Didn't have to buy another Directv receiver, or pay a monthly fee.

So far, no interference with our home's wifi network.

One thing to watch out for...when you turn on your slave tv, the loop through transmission "burps" for about 4 second (person in the other room has his screen go blank), but returns quickly with no loss of signal.

I'm using this product to transmit high definition signals to a flat panel about 25 feet away. Connected are an Xbox 360 and an HD cable box. Once I installed them, everything worked perfectly. I was actually pretty amazed how easy it was. My only issue would be the construction or quality of the product. The plastic seems a bit flimsy and I can't speak for the components inside so only time will tell. But otherwise, all works very well.

We needed to move the TV but couldn't move the receiver or all the wires. The Air Sync worked great for that application. Very easy to set up too.
