CLOVER CLO0888 8 Channel H.264 DVR with 8 Weather Resistant Night Vision Cameras

I can't imagine finding a better deal on an 8 channel DVR Video Security System with 8 CCD Weatherproof cameras at that!

I also had an excellent experience contacting CloverUSA (they make Wisecomm)Tech Support on a previous DVR system and

that was even during the holidays. This system works great and is easy to use without having to read the manual for

everything. They have help definitions programmed into the system menu to show what the options are or do.

This system works better and has more features than a major name brand consumer (monitor/PC)company system that I also

own. I also was not impressed with Tech Support calls to that major brand company either. This is why I bought this

second system from Clover/Wisecomm. I'll be selling my major name brand system since it doesn't hold a candle to this

product.

Reduced to 3 stars 2/21/12 Because of CCD cameras bundled with system. They actually don't do as well as advertised at

night. In fact, they only project enough light for maybe 30' max. at night instead of 40' or 45' claimed. Furthermore

facial recognition is only about 20' or so. The mounting is flimsy with thumbscrews and they don't lock in place very

well. The lead wire is also exposed so that is a safety concern. The threads on the camera housing had burrs and had

to be chased out for proper mounting engagement. Ended up buying other weatherproof outdoor cameras with microphones

and concealed wiring which also carry further at night and are more forgiving of stray lights without bleeding as the

CCD kit included cameras do. Actually I would rate it at 3.5 stars because all 8 cameras are really useless for outside

mounting and they don't really see to 40/45' at night. The cameras would be better used with better mounting brackets

but you shouldn't have to build your own mounting brackets or buy other cameras as I did.

Also DVR uses a very small fan for cooling and that fan is making a loud noise. I have to contact company to see how they

handle that. I would be happy to replace it myself if they would send me a new one.

I purchased the product online and it arrived quickly (less than 2 weeks). It was easy to install. Once I found the correct app for my phone, I was able to have a more satisfactory image of the cameras remotely. I am mostly satisfied, except that one of the cameras came in broken. I contacted the customer service department at Clover Electronics and I am still waiting to hear how they are going to send me a working camera for my system. Depending on their response, I will finalize this review. So for now, only 3 stars.

received and hooked up no problem,found picture quality good.Compared to last system which was replaced after first year with newer version and still went bad within the following year (Defender 4ch.).Like the ease of looking at video while still taping current. Hope to have a long carefree term with this one.Also like the capture of the 8ch. as opposed to the 4ch.
