Well,...so far, NOT SO GOOD!. I was SO excited to get one of these "record and casset to CD' recorders but they are very expensive. When I saw this one at ShopKo on sale for $159.99, I grabbed it. The first one I took back because the arm did not work properly even before I tried recording anything. The second one I took back because the Radio didn't work. Then I got smart and asked that the box be opened and the unit tested before I took it home. Well, we opened three units, and the arm did not work on any of them they did not play the record til the end, and/or didn't return. But, desperate as I was to have the recorder feature, I took one that at least completed the LP record (though it does not return). Neither the clerk nor I could believe the shoddy workings of the unit...She got tired of opening boxes and lifting the heavy unit out! I'll write again after I try to record something!
Well, I recorded something...! It's difficult because the recording picks up the end of the LP "swish...swish...swish..." when the arm does not return, but it plays back sounding as good as it did while it was playing. BUT...be sure to read the directions, because with certain CD's, it will not play back in your car or CD player...just plays back on the recorder unit. Am I glad I got it? I'm still thinking about that one....

I have to disagree with the review about "reading the directions and then no problems"...I have SO read the directions, following them step by step to the letter, called to ask IT for assistance to a possible quirk that might be helpful to know, she recommended unplugging the unit overnight and then trying again (??). Made no sense to me but figured should go by what she said, made no difference whatsoever....records play fine, no tone arm problems, but can't get more than 4 minutes of recorded material, although it shows that it is recording, shows that it is switching to the next track for the next song, i push "stop" to end recording (yes, after waiting the required ten seconds)and all I get is the "busy" icon that supposedly goes away after a few seconds (I waited 15 minutes just for grins)and then you're supposed to be able to push the "CD" button and move on to the finalize stage. No Luck !! Will try again today but am geting tired of throwing away blank CDs and waiting through 35-40 minutes of a record to find out I only got the first song and a half. I highly suggest trying a different brand, possibly one slightly more expensive but one that works.Want Innovative Technology ITRR-501 5-in-1 Wooden Recordable Music Center Discount?
Introduction: I wanted to convert my old audio libraries of LP's (78's and 33 1/3's), Reel to Reels, Cassettes, DVD musical tracks economically and simply. I read all the reviews on Innovatives Technology's Wooden Music Center model: ITRR-501 Recordable CD Player the price was right so I took the chance. So far I've burned over 100 LP Albums, Reel to reels, cassettes and DVD musicals, Operas, plays, old audio books & stories any and all audio tracks with great success. I love this unit and highly recommend it if you have a simmilar situation and lots of time to enjoy this music in the process!!!
BOTTOMLINE: The following suggestion are made so you too can enjoy and have great success in this fun time consuming process!!!!
1. READ ALL THE DIRECTIONS & FOLLOW CAREFULLY !!!
2. You MUST appy the K.I.S.S. (Keep It Simple Stupid) principle !!!
a. This means MANUAL MODE ONLY (Auto-Mode causes to many variables especially between medias)
3. Manually adjust recording Audio level (between 12 & 6) and leave it alone.
4. Proven recordable CD's are, MEMOREX CD-R 52x 700 MB 80 minutes.
5. AUX Mode covers all audio input media's (I LOVE IT!!! & USE IT !!!!)
6. REMEMBER, INPUT QUALITY = OUTPUT RESULTS!!!! (garbage in equals garbage out)
7. Manually record recording time to max your 80 minutes (NOTE: stop recording select CD mode will display total recording time used)
8. (CAUTION/ALERT) PAUSE or Stop recording AUTOMATICALLY ADVANCES TO NEXT TRACK SEQUENCE!!
9. REMOTE CONTROL USE IS KEY!!! (NOTE: Range and Angle Limited so keep line to eye sensor pretty straight and close!!!)
10. Rehearse/ make a few dry runs, PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE!!
11. MANUAL PAUSING BETWEEN TRACKS/changing medias etc. IS THE ONLY WAY TO EFFECTIVELY PERFORM THIS CONVERSION WITH 100% SUCCESS!!!!! NOTE: Auto settings are touchy and DB adjustments are too variable and cause random pausing and premature track advancing. Most frustrating and a waste of time and resources. STAY MANUAL!! ENJOY THIS MEMORABLE JOURNEY THROUGH YOUR HISTORICAL AUDIO LIBRARY.
I am enjoying this quest and it really does capture the old LP clicking, hisses and scratch sound occasionally to bring back those old memories. Over all if your input sound is great your results are outstanding.
Innovative Technologies has done a great job!!! This product is a MUST HAVE. I could go on but read the directions, Practice, learn your steps of operation and Enjoy listening to the great music/audio you have put on CD anytime, anywhere!! ENJOY!!!!!!!! I am!!!This is an easy way to turn those old records into cds. You just put the record on, use the remote to start the recording, and sit back. It will sound just like your records; so if the record isn't in the best shape, don't expect a miracle. I recorded three albums the first night. It is that easy to use. And it is a very attractive piece of cabinetry.
