RCA DRC277 DVD Player

RCA DRC277 DVD Player
  • Compact DVD player
  • HD upconversion to view your movies in 1080p resolution
  • Multi-format playback DVD, DVD-R/-RW, DVD+R/+RW, CD, CD-R/-RW, HD JPEG, JPEG
  • Outputs: One HDMI (1080p V1.3), one video composite (yellow RCA type), one optical digital audio, one coaxial digital audio, one analog audio
  • AV cable and remote control included

Bought Two before this one at 100 dollars and 55 dollars. Trouble locking up and misstracking and playing some DVDs. This one at 39 dollars is compact, quiet and tracks anything I put in it. The upconvert makes my 720P Toshiba TV uncomfortably close to my more expensive 1080P Mitsubishi TV. Neat remote too. Love it.

very compact, and works great. I live in NJ and it was shipped from California and it got here quick.

I bought this for my daughter to use in her bedroom. My complaint is really with the remote control & with RCA in general. The player itself works ok for the price. However, if you lose the remote or it stops working (which mine did after only 5 months), this model DOES NOT WORK WITH A UNIVERSAL REMOTE!!!!!

I tried every code for RCA & finally called RCA to get the code. There isn't a code!!! This player will not respond to any universal remote.

I find that infuriating for several reasons. It forces you to purchase another remote from RCA for $15 plus shipping. Also, for those of us who want the convenience and ease of only having ONE remote control, this player is just not an option.

I am so aggravated that I spent money on a universal remote that will not work on this unit that I have decided to donate this player to some local charity & go buy a product not made by RCA!!!!

I cannot speak for durability, but I am happy after two month's use. Yes, it is a bit vocal while it's finding tracks (probably due to its plastic case and mimimalist form), but not at all while it's playing. The 1080p picture is fabulous -better than the upconversion performance of my Sony blu-ray player. The DVI connection carries sound beautifully as well. The player fits anywhere and moves between rooms and systems with very little hassle and would even fit in a backpack if you tempted to take it to a friend's to show off. Yes, it's light (you might say flimsy-feeling), but inside where it matters this bad boy's got game. Really I don't know why anyone would need anything more than this for digital upconverting ... assuming it lasts two or three years; I have high hopes.

I'm on my third one. They stop working after about 9 months. I take them back to Target and exchange them. It's not costing me anything (except for time) but it kinda annoying. The picture quality is pretty good when using an HDMI cable. The remote sucks. I say avoid this one...
