I just got the Samsung Yepp and I think it's a great player. From the moment you open the box it definitely has that "touch me, feel me" look to it. This thing is very very small (smaller than I expected from pictures on the web), I'd say about the size of a deck of cards. You can easily "palm" it in your hand, and it weighs almost NOTHING (I hardly notice it when it's in my pocket, I think it's lighter than my wallet). This certainly beats carrying around a discman and a caselogic.

The sound quality is excellent (The earbuds that come with it are okay, but I prefer my Sony Fontopias). The controls are intuitive, and the PC interface software is easy to use (Make sure to get the newest version from the samsung website). The voice recorder is definitely a nice bonus; it's great for recording lectures in class. I don't use the phonebook feature b/c I have a Palm Pilot, but that's also a nice feature.

My only reservations are that:

It only plays MP3 format, unlike other players which also support RMA, WMA, etc.

There's no backlighting for the LCD.

No USB yet (but due out soon).

If you can deal without these extras for now, this player is for you. If you shop around, you can find this player a lot cheaper than any other player out there.

After hesitating between the choice of the Yepp and the Rio, I chose the Yepp, and I am happy I did. It is very easy to use. I had mine full of songs within 20 minutes of opening the box. I will probably buy the optional USB connection, but the parallel port transferred the mp3 files fast enough. This thing is small--smaller than the pictures make it look and smaller than I was expecting. About the size of a deck of cards, but thinner. Its way lighter than my StarTac cell phone. The headphones, of course, are not the best, but that should be expected. It sounds great, and there are a few EQ modes you can use. The microphone works really well. Battery life is suprisingly long. Volume is good enough that you can hear the music in a noisy atmosphere. I don't think the lack of backlighting is a big deal because the controls are simple and this also saves battery juice. It comes loaded with two strange sounding songs that I deleted. I haven't used the phone book option, so I can't comment on that. Overall, I was pleasantly suprised about the high level of quality because I was unsure of whether to get this or the Rio. Yepp Yepp!

I decided after a lot of thinking to but the Yepp, and I'm glad I did. With the 64 Meg, I fit 22 songs at CD quality sound. The design is great, and even though it doesn't come with USB, the parallel port is just fine in speeed. It's easy to use, easy to carry, and provides great sound at a great price. I like the phone book and the record features as well as the hold button and the different music modes. If your having trouble deciding between players, get this product. One warning though: the Yepp player only is compatible with the Yepp Smartmedia cards, which they overcharge you for.

This MP3 Player is good looking, (Just like the 32MB Version). It has built in 64MB flash memory with an expansion slot, which locks the card into place. It has a recording function with a built in microphone. This is nice but the quality is low, but could prove to be useful in lectures. It has a detachable belt clip. The software is easy to use, however it only supports windows. It uses Parallel, however USB is an optional extra.

The controls are simple and need little explaination. It can erase tracks from the flash memory while disconnected from your pc. It also has a function where it repeats a section of the song which you define. It also has the usual CD functions. It has seven different present equalizers, some with 3D sound. It also has a hold button.

Now for the Bad Points.

It (like all MP3 Players) has average earplugs.

It is only powered by 2 AAA batteries, which is alittle anoying as I wanted to use it in my car.

It dosen't have a backlite screen, but this would drain battery power anyway.

Otherwise you will not be dissapointed in purchasing this product.

I bought this along with sony md-91 because for quick recordingfrom my mp3 library in my comp.. and this baby served me well.. verywell in fact.. first, bad things... no backlit and earphone is kindabad... you can live with it if you don't mind little bit of hiss.. other thing.. no usb... but it's optional and parallel port is fast enough..

now good things... this thing is really light.. i think lighest in the market.. and this is not that expensive . . . and design is very cute... i personally think those 'raveMP' is cheap but really really ugly.. this sleek silver thingy is on par with Rio550 in design.. but better in other things.. like price and sound quality.. which matters most.. if you are not going to buy this because of dang cheap earbud ... believe me other got cheaper ones included in their mp3...
