Am Recorder Classic Photo Studio In A Box

Am Recorder Classic Photo Studio In A BoxI have had this item for well over a year, maybe two. I use it for taking pictures of cards for my blog. I tried different locations in my house and still did not get the quality of picture I was looking for. Even after picture editing, I wasn't happy with the results.

The two lamps are poorly constructed; the bulbs did not screw in straight. One lamp fell off the table and the clips that essentially held everything in place, made the lamp unusable after the fall. The lamps are lightweight and do not sit firmly on any surface. The base of the lamps well, there isn't a base, the lamps stand up on tripod legs. The fall wasn't from negligence the lamps don't sit firmly in place.

I did not use the tripod because it held the camera up too high

Blue/gray cloth. The cloth is not smooth which renders the background of the picture almost porous like. It is impossible to Photoshop the background out.

The "Box" does fold up nicely. As far as the box standing up straight eh, not so good. It stands up good if it is against something like a wall.

After reading online on how to make your own studio, I discovered that a piece of poster board was the perfect replacement for the poor quality cloth. I had to replace the lamps because of their poor construction. Finally after throwing away the cloth and the two poorly constructed lamps and replacing them with two new light fixtures and a piece of white poster board and, the pictures are turning out great!

I think I paid $50 for this item; the only usable part is the box. Research online, you can easily make your own box for the cost of a box cutter and $14 for two lamps at Walmart

My son enjoys using this portable Studio in a Box for micro photography, product photography, photographing miniatures and more! It is very handy. I think it's a good tool for any professional or amateur photographer. It is light weight and sets up with ease.
