Dane Elec High Speed 16 GB Class 10 Secure Digital Card DA-SD-1016G-C

Dane Elec High Speed 16 GB Class 10 Secure Digital Card DA-SD-1016G-COrdered this product through Amazon for a security camera I have which requires high speed recording. This product arrived damaged at first, but as always, was instantly replaced at no charge & packaged very well the second time. This item works as described & is the fastest writable speed I could find for a 16 GB SDHC card. This card is recommended along with the seller.

I purchased 2 of these cards over a year ago to use in my Canon s21 camcorder. Never had any problems. Works just like any other named brand memory card, and, I saved money.

This card says class 10. Which meens the write speed should be up to 10 MB/sec.

Although the benchmark of the read speed was 13.2 MB/sec, the write speed was 7.6 MB/sec (CrystalDiskMark 3.0.1). If you want a fast card, it might be good that you choose another sd card.

This is a good, large, inexpensive card, with a caveat: although the label says 200x, that only refers to the read speed. The write speed is much slower and that may be a deal-breaker for some. The Class 10 speed refers to the ability to continuously move 10 MB/sec of data reliably. These days, high definition cameras are capable of pumping out 20 MB or more of data under certain conditions. For example, a hacked Panasonic GH1 can be adjusted for high bitrates and will exceed the Class 10 rating of this card. Many cards labeled Class 10 actually exceed that standard; for example, Sandisk cards labeled Class 6 or Class 10 have long been known to write at 15 to 30 MB/sec, far exceeding the standard.

Unfortunately, this card hews fairly close to the Class 10 standard, which means that some Class 6 cards in reality might write much faster.

Options to consider that have better performance: Transcend and PNY make Class 10 cards that write much faster and are about the same price as the Dane-Elec "200x".
