So far so good after I went to Philips site and ran the latest update. For the price I don't think it can be beat.

Pros:

-Bluray plays 1080/24 flawless.

-Love that this thing supports USB playing videos. Running all my avi files perfectly.

-Netflix is fully functional and complete. It brings up by genre, instant and you can search.

-Vudu is up but I haven't used it

-Beautiful upconversion of my old dvds.

Cons:

Ocassionally Netflix signal drops out on me when running wireless or it searches for wifi signal when I know my wifi is strong.

Ads are deceiving. It states 8" depth and wifi(most would think internal wifi), but the wifi is really an included wifi dongle that sticks out another two inches on a secondary backside usb wifi port making it a 10" depth.

So far no subtitles for Netflix

-No 3-d...although this was not a dealbreaker for me as I really think 3-d is going to be a fad that dies quickly.

All in all its a heck of a swiss army blu-ray player for a really good price.

I received this player for my birthday from my wife and it came on November 23, 2011. When I opened the box and got it all set up, I was amazed. The start-up was relatively fast, and automatically turned on my 47" Vizio HDTV and turned it to the correct input which was HDMI-1. That was a pretty neat feature.

I decided to look for the supposedly included wifi Dongle, but it was nowhere to be found. I looked online and a few others seemed to be having the same problem such as Dalistylin. I was a little frustrated and almost contacted Amazon, but realized it was the day before Thanksgiving and I would just wait. I decided to play around with the wifi settings anyway and to my surprise, the wifi was actually built-in. It picked up my internet connection no problem.

I decided to take it home to my parents house for the weekend and tried their wireless connection as well. No problems from the other side of the house with their Qwest (Century Link) wireless router 4 bars. I set up my laptop right by it to set up Netflix and it had the same connection 4 bars. I started streaming Netflix without a problem as well. I didn't update the firmware though, as their internet connection is a little slow.

Pros:

-Fast boot-up

-Automatically turned on my TV to the right input

-Display on the front to know the time in the movie

-Contrary to what Dalistylin said, the player will resume where you left off, EVEN if you turn OFF the blu-ray player

-Upconversion on DVDs is fantastic

-USB port for other video formats and BD-Live (I haven't played with this feature yet, though)

-Great range on the built-in wifi

Cons:

-Remote is quite cheap, and often you have to push the buttons really hard to get it to respond

-As far as I know, Netflix and Vudu are the only options for streaming, but I haven't updated the firmware yet to see

Overall a great player. I would recommend this player to anyone.

The previous reviewer was right on when he complained about the remote. It is just plain awful and extremely irritating to use. Trust me, navigating thru Netflix or Vudu selections with this remote will drive you nuts. Other than the remote the player does it's job fairly well...blue ray discs look sharp,up-sampling of DVDs is good and the WiFi seems to work fine (on my unit it was built in). Also the player is ridiculously easy to set up. My compliments to Philips for the intelligence of the product in this price range. Unfortunately all these pluses are more than offset by the terrible remote, which of course is required to perform just about every function.

In short this is not a bad player if you can get it for less than $70 bucks. I would not pay more. This is really too bad as this is not a bad player, but the remote cheapens the enjoyment of the product.

This product does everything it says it can do with not a lot of fuss and frustration. I opened the package, plugged in the cables, gave it power, and it worked! It found my wi-fi and after putting in my security code, it joined forces to give me Netflix. The remote control does have a Netflix button, which is nice. The device works as a Blu-Ray player and a DVD player. So, far I am happy with it.

This is a GREAT product for the money! I have been waiting for the Bluray prices to come down, and this player was worth the wait! It plays all popular file formats, including .mvk! Great for movies, jpegs, mp3's as well as .AVI. It is a must have if you need to play those different formats! Picture is perfect, easy to use remote, and the HDMI hook up knows when you load a movie and switches the Monitor automatically to the correct HDMI port! Don't hesitate to get this player. 10 out of 10!
