I have been looking for a wired/wireless network streaming and media player to watch online Chinese TV channels and play my video files stored in local computers. I bought this unit two weeks ago, so far it meets all of my needs. My video files are in almost all formats from MTS, MKV, AVI, MPG, DVD-ISO to FLV, most are in RMVB. With Weboxx, I can now watch them on HDTV and don't need to convert them with software beforehand. I connect this little box via its built-in wireless connection to the computer in another room over home network. I setup its display output to 1080P, and it plays all file formats I throw at it without any issue. Some of my pictures are stored in Picasa network albums, I can view them through Weboxx too.

I use Weboxx to watch online live and recorded Chinese TV channels. I have found hundreds of TV channels, some of them are HD channels. Most channels are displayed smoothly. To select a few TV channels that I watch everyday, I utilize the feature of USB Self-defined Channels. Just store the links of these daily watched channels in a USB drive, plug it into one of the two USB slots on Weboxx, select and watch the channels I want.

Watching online videos or Chinese movies is another requirement from me, so that I can directly watch them on my TV instead of downloading them to local hard drive first. There are two ways I can do it with Weboxx. I get into many servers and search whatever videos I want, or search them in Weboxx's YouTube with an on-screen keyboard, which is the most important features of Weboxx. It has YouTubeXL and YouTube Select Region, both provide excellent playing performance. To simplify operations, I search the YouTube videos from my computer and store them in YouTube's favorite folder, then play them one by one from Weboxx.

I also played around with new Weboxx features and I found one is quite unique and interesting. It is the feature of Remote Control Learning. After a simple learning procedure, I have turned an old remote control into another Weboxx remote.

The home menu interface is pleasant. I like the design and taste of its main and secodary menus too.

I've found out that Weboxx is from one of the main HD media player manufacturers in China. The manufacture has good reputation and releases firmware on regular basis. Their devices constantly get good reviews.

Customer service of TrendTech is excellent. Whenever I have a question, I contact the company and always get answers in a few minutes. To help me to setup user-defined USB, they sent me a detailed instruction and a useful template.

Overall I am very happy with my Weboxx, and I would highly recommend this unit. To mention the Cons, the appearance of Weboxx could be better. Although its size is small, it could be even smaller like Roku because it has no internal hard drive. Its English interface could be improved to include Netflix, Hulu plus, Amazon, and other selections. I did find a minor bug with the home key of remote control, I reported to the company to fix in next version of firmware.

People tend to think they can just bring in a media player from China and use it in America. Some function will work, but many useful features such as YouTube will not work properly, or it may not have YouTube at all. The firmware updates in China will not help, because people there can not watch YouTube anyway. If you can not log into Youtube or watching YouTube Taiwan, you are missing a lot of interesting contents.

The setting was easy; however, it was hard for me to get used to the program. Why it is not 5-start? Because of the program design. It was not as simple as other monthly paid TV boxes. You can find anything you want such as, Taiwanese, Korean, HK, USA, Chinese dramas, entertainment, movies without monthly payment, but internet. Live channels, news, sports!! It would be better if they have Kareoke.

I bought this product so my mom can watch Chinese TV programs on TV. Weboxx doesn't require dish installation and there is no monthly charge. It worked very good for my needs. The customer service is very good too responded to my emails in a day and provides updates on the firmware. Highly recommend the product.
