Yamaha took great care of me, and suprised me as well buy sending me a newer model. At first I thought they just made a mistake. However no mistake as they read several e-mails I sent about getting a unit from a newer line run. Instead they just sent me a brand new player in this model with a full warrenty to boot.
This unit has worked flawlessly since Iv'e had it. It plays everything I throw at it perfect. CD'sDVD'sBlu-rays, and two u.s.b.2 ports for thumbdrives to use for BD-Live or sound plays MP3's perfect. Also this unit supports 3-D if you need it.
You can also disable the 3-D in setup. The software set of Netflix and You-Tube, as well as blockbuster are good. Netflix is improved over the older BD-S667 that only pulled in you instant que, with no search features. The new one is way more intuative. However I must say it's much slower than my older and cheaper LG unit!
This unit also has a noise filter built into it, auto settings for HDTV's that don't support 24-H.Z. playback(24 frames per second with Blu-rays). It's very easy to setup and operate. The DVD upconvertion is top notch as well as the Signal to noise ratio.
Load times are twice as fast as my LG-BD550. The Yamaha is the one to buy if you want total compatability with all formats of DVD's, MP3's, WMA files, and wave files. Plus if you own a Yamaha Reciever, this unit matches it real nice.
It's also not so light and slim that it will move every time you actually hit a button manually. It's about as close to an Oppo you can get without spending $250 more! My only small complaint, is while playing a Blu-ray you can not zoom at all. It's possible to zoom using your T.V. if it's supported?
Plus while using the zoom feature in DVD's it jumps in large increments, 2X,4X,8X then 1/81/41/2. I don't understand that at all. My $120 LG BD-550 allows you to zoom in in small increments to fill my screen with both Blu-ray, and DVD playback. Go figure!
It's definatly not worth docking a star for as far as I'm concerned. However I thought it might help others decide. To me the native playback mode is fine when you have a 50" Plasma, Panasonic that allows me to zoom in if I choose to.
If you have a smaller T.V. you might want to consider a LG or other brand that allows the zoom feature while playing Blu-rays and DVD's. However after I was researching all the new units out there, it seems as though the zoom feature it no longer available in any unit I have checked and I have checked all the players in the $80 to $200 range. Buy Yamaha BD-S671BL Blu-Ray Disc Player Now
The Yamaha BD-S671BL Blu-Ray Disc Player is a pretty solid Blu-Ray disc player. The Blu-Ray and DVD playback is very clean and the sound is excellent (mine is paired with a Yamaha receiver). I am not a fan of the remote control or the on-screen menus, however, which are nowhere near as intuitive as my Sony Blu-Ray player's remote and menu system. Overall, I like the Yamaha player's video and sound quality, but it just doesn't have all the bells and whistles that my Sony Blu-Ray player has (which is what I expected based on my research). The Yamaha player does provide Netflix and networking access, which is what I wanted, so I'm happy with my purchase. I think it's a solid value.Read Best Reviews of Yamaha BD-S671BL Blu-Ray Disc Player Here
Didn't find much advertising on this unit, but it matched the RX-V671 A/V receiver I'd just purchased. A little high on the price, but it has all of the latest gee-wizes as all the others, plays 3D, and of course the netflix, blockbuster, etc apps. Absolutely no issues. You can find other brands less expensive, but I'd recommend this one if you want integration with your A/V system with all the latest buzzes.works perfect with my Yamaha receiver. Integrates well with all my other Yamaha components. I can use my remote for my receiver to control this. A big plusI'm a Yamaha man from the old days, and will use Yamaha when I can find the product. This disc player is no exception, works very well with my home theater system. The price was right and the shipping was fast and quick.I'll buy more Yamaha products as I want them.
