Electrohome 4GB MP3 WMA WAV Player FM Radio USB Voice Recorder

Electrohome 4GB MP3 WMA WAV Player FM Radio USB Voice Recorder

  • work out player

This isn't the worlds most fashionable or stylish music player. It does have a basic and straight forward set of controls and it comes at a price where I don't mind risking its destruction from a mishap taking it sailing or packing it in my bag for a dive trip (you take one Ipod nano accidentally to 115 feet and you start to question if you really need music between dives or not...)

I made it a week of intermittent usage (probably 2-4 hours a day) on 1 battery. Overall very satisfied.

Oh additionally, the FM radio was very crisp and clear for me, but I was using it on travel, so I don't know if I was missing any distant stations a bigger FM could have caught.

I needed something cheap to plug into my car's (Mazda CX5) USB port. Seems like straight USB sticks aren't as adaptable as a full-on player when it comes to search and play modes, and especially if you listen to audio books; a simple stick often forgets where you've left off. But this player works just fine. Haven't needed the FM radio, so I can't speak to that.

Pros:

Cheap and it works. Plays mp3 without a hitch.

Sound quality is fine for my purposes (hiking or walking the dog)

Has a replaceable battery (either standard or rechargeable AAA)

Cons:

Product description says it will play WMA, but it does not play WMA versions of books I download from my local library (plays the mp3 versions fine). This is a potentially serious problem if you are committed to the WMA format.

Display is really minimal and controls are a bit funky, but you get used to both.

I would probably purchase this player again.

I received this product four days after I ordered it which I was happy about because it came sooner than I expected. I bought two of them. When I opened each box, there was the MP3 player, earphones, and a "Kendal" triple A battery included. I put the battery in one of them and it didn't turn on. In fact, both batteries from the two boxes did not work. In that event, I had to go to the store, and I bought a pack of Energizer triple A batteries and only one of the two MP3 players turned on. On one of the MP3 players, it turned on but the screen was blank. All it did was show a blank blue screen so I tinkered with it for about a good five minutes -pulling out the battery and putting it back in then holding the button down a few times -until I could bring up a little menu and finally got it working. The second MP3 player did not work at all even after inserting new batteries in it. I am very disappointed because I bought these for my husband and a friend of his who are stationed in Afghanistan and wanted to send it to them ASAP and at the same time so I don't have to waste postage. But now, I guess I have to suck it up and look for something better in the meantime because I do not want a replacement. It seems cheaply made, and I don't want to waste my time with replacements that MAY or MAY NOT work. And for Heaven's Sake, A DEAD BATTERY included? Make that Two Dead Batteries included! Very disappointing!

I've had IPODs and other MP3 players. This one is basic and won't let you pick the songs you want to hear but it works good and doesn't break down like the other players.
