I needed a simple camera to monitor my front door and this one does it perfectly. I did not need recording capability since I have another home surveillance system that covers my entire house. I have this one hooked up to my kitchen TV (720p/23" LCD). The installation was easy. I didn't even bother to read the directions. Mount the camera, plug it into power, take the remote box and hook it into the TV's composite jacks, plug in power, press the sync buttons on both units and you have video. The longest part of the installation was determining where I wanted the camera and mounting the bracket. The video during the day and night is really good. If I'm at the kitchen table and the doorbell rings, I just press my TV input for the camera and see who's there. Whats really nice about a cordless unit like this is that you can just unplug the remote on the TV side and within a few minutes have it on another TV or monitor. My camera/remote are about 30' feet apart and the signal is strong. I'm sure if you wanted to record video with this you could probably use an old school VCR or a computer with a video capture card. I am pleased with the system and would not hesitate to buy another. Just make sure you have an electrical outlet within 3-5' of the camera location.

so far, it's waterproof! anyone can do the installation and it comes with everything you need to get that going. I haven't experienced the alarm yet which I'm hoping works. The led's are bright, super effective. It's doing all that I hoped so far and for a fraction of the cost of others I've looked at.
