Hosa Cable OPT103 Fiber Optic Cable - 3 Foot

Hosa Cable OPT103 Fiber Optic Cable - 3 Foot
  • Connectors: TosLink to TosLink
  • Fiber Optic Cable
  • Length: 3 feet

This Toslink cable worked perfectly in the two digital audio applications that I applied it to. In one application, I used this cable as an extension to another more expensive cable by employing a Toslink coupler (I used this coupler: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000E9VK60/ref=oss_product ). In the other application, I used it as an input cable to my reciever from a nearby BlueRayDisc player and a Dish Receiver. In all cases the cable performed without any noticed problems. I would suggest that they worked perfectly for my applications, though I don't have anything but the audiostream to the receiver to gauge the signal fidelity.

This cable is thin, it is basically the fiber optic cable with just a sheath, so it isn't protected at all. The connector end is small and not supported with a strain relief, so the Toslink male fitting is basically just the fiber termination point. However, these characteristics have some advantages. As long as one is careful about not kinking the cable, then this cable is an excellent choice for tight areas and reducing cable bulk. The connectors seemed snug and secure when they plugged in. They are friction fit.

Bottom line, I think you can trust this SKU. There are less expensive cables and I would think they probably compare favorably to this cable after having my doubts about these. Just be sure you don't blow your savings on shipping costs.
