USB Handy Digital Sound Noise Level Meter Decibel Pressure Logger with Tripod Mounting

USB Handy Digital Sound Noise Level Meter Decibel Pressure Logger with Tripod Mountingbought a few sound meters to validate events were meeting city sound codes tested them against each other. this one within spec if sound stable (ie a sound tone no music). However, for rapidly changing sound volume such as music this one seemed to read 4db higher. However, this was a $20 meter and the other was $200.

This toy is fine to play around with, but it automatically shuts itself off after 4 minutes without prompting. Also worth noting, it doesn't have a linear filter setting and although it has a mini USB, it doesn't come with driver software, nor does any seem to exist online.

I have nothing to relate this to, but it works well and meets my purposes. No complaints at all about the item or service.

I knew this product was cheap...Plastic Casing is cheap and battery cover is crooked. Battery compartment is cheap. When turning on the meter none of the buttons worked. The display refused to come out of self check mode and meter refused to turn off. Pulled battery and tried again...2 buttons now work and meter display is erratic. Left unit off and let sit for a few minutes. Turned on and everything works fine and has since. Not sure what was going on. Product is very useful...manual left something to be desired and served as the usual comedy for my kid as we read the poorly translated English. Checked against a calibrated sound pressure meter and it was within 5% accuracy. This meter would get 4 stars if it was not for the unusual initial start up issues.
