This box works exactly as advertised. When I first got it, I played around with all of the settings, but I have been mainly using the octave setting for the past month. With a minimum of tweaking it produces a very realistic female voice an octave above my voice. Not realistic enough to make it the lead voice, but very convincing behind another voice. The other settings also work well, although since they require a voice and an instrument input, they are a bit more finicky. For instance the vocoder setting is a bit weird with guitar because it cuts in and out as the guitar's volume fluctuates. If you compress the guitar, you get a more traditional vocoder sound. Overall, an amazing piece of equipment.

I'm sure a lot of similar products have a delay, but the Voice box had a noticeable delay that threw me off. When you sing you hear the effects a fraction of a second later. It's very annoying.

I love this little machine. I use it mainly as a vocoder and I can assure you it works like a charm and for the price of other vocoder devices, its fantastic value for money. Its built like a tank (made in USA not China). I don't use the harmonization effects that often, but they are on-par with any of the TH Helicon devices (which I also own). Highly recommended.

I bought this originally for the vocoder. I wanted a unique sound. Then I found myself using the amazing harmony settings more and more. This pedal gives me that perfect vocal sound that i'm looking for, and with my switch pedal I can use my piano and make my robot vocoder vocals... This pedal really is great. I just love how it reads the chords you play and it spits out perfect harmonies... If you want your vocals going into an amp that doesnt have an XLR input then you need an adapter. Luckily I had one lying around. The reason why I gave this 4 stars and not 5 is because the price seemed a little steep. I wouldve felt more comfy paying 150. But still. I feel like its worth the money.

I have used several vocoders and found this particular one to be the best. The words come through clear and easy to decipher and it has a nice tonal quality. It has phantom power for use with a condenser microphone too, which is even better for audio clarity. Unfortunately, it is the harmony effects that are pretty poor to my ear. The whistle mode is a complete waste of time, and the gender bender isn't particularly great either. The harmony effects all have a country feel to them, and sound too similar in my opinion.

Maybe you need to spend more time experimenting with this than I was prepared to do, but I was just left a little unexcited when I hooked this thing up. I ended up selling mine on before long, and as I don't perform live I will just continue to overdub my backing vocals myself. It is a neat little vocoder, but for the money it is a little costly. Also, if you so much as go a little off-pitch, the harmonies will do likewise and the results will sound horrid. Add to this the fact that it has a slight delay, and the results are less than pleasing on the ear. I ended up buying the new V256 from Electro-Harmonix instead. There isn't a world of difference between the vocoders, but I would rather have their new auto-tune feature than the harmony one included here.
