Net 10 LG 600G Prepaid Phone

This Net10 phone is just ok. I like the prepaid plan and the coverage is excellent. Always a strong signal. This is the BEST deal in prepaid as far as I'm concerned. No one can beat the 10¢ a minute deal. NO ONE. As far as that goes, it's all good. I've had at least 5 different Pre-paid services over the last 5 years, and this one is by far the best signal and the best price per minute.

Now for the downside to this industrially ugly looking phone:

If you want to use a bluetooth headset, do not buy this phone! I mean, it will work but there are no voice commands so basically you can just answer the call with the bluetooth.

Secondly, you have to use these humongous adapters to use a car charger, or a wired headset. Isn't this supposed to be a small mobile phone? Aint nothin' small about it when one of these monstrosity adapters are plugged into it. I wouldn't have bought it had I known that you have to use these ginormous adapters with it.

The camera is caveman basic at best, but it will do for having a camera handy in case of an accident or something. Of course I would prefer an I-Phone with a nice data plan, but these days, I takes what I can get and this is what is affordable.

For $15 bucks a month, the service can't be beat.

Unlike LG's lower-end Net10 models (the 300G comes to mind), this 600G ($40 MSRP) is a solidly constructed flip phone with a nice keypad design and a decent set of features, including Bluetooth, a 0.3MP camera, and a voice recorder. Call quality and battery life are as good as on any phone I've owned, and once you factor in that the package comes with 300 minutes to boot (a $30 value given Net10's 10 cents/minute plan), the price of entry's just ten bucks.

But I discovered one serious operational problem: when you don't use the phone for awhile, the first call you make will usually fail: they can hear you, but you can't hear them (you can't hear it ring, either). Hanging up and calling back gets everything working fine, but making calls should never a trial-and-error game considering this is, you know, a PHONE.

And on a sidenote, Net10 customer service is pretty much ass. I spent 70 minutes talking to some moron in India who couldn't set up my voicemail, and would have wasted many more if I hadn't asked to speak to his manager, who solved the problem but didn't apologize or credit back the masses of airtime minutes wasted by the first guy. Incidents like this aside, though, Net10 still seems like one of the best of the prepaid pack, at least if "best" means "cheapest". You can get by shelling out as little as $15/month as long as you keep talk time under 150 minutes -a little better than T-Mobile's cheapest prepaid plan ($16.67/month, 133 minutes) and leagues lower than Verizon, AT&T, and Sprint.

Hell froze over. I bought a cell phone. I looked around for the best deal for someone who would use a cellphone minimally. Net10 seemed to be it. The LG600 was virtually free, having paid $30 and getting $30 worth of air time with it.

The phone gets excellent reception. I'm in rural northern Vermont. My town is considered a "dead zone" by many. Yet, I get reception from a good many places. On the road I get bars in places I did not expect to.

When in a 4 bar area, the sound is excellent.

It's taking me a while to learn how to use all the features. I don't think it's because the phone is inherently not user friendly. I think it's because this is my first cell phone. I used the voice recording feature to make my own ringtones. So, now the Stones "Start Me Up" signals an incoming call.

The .3 mpixel camera is adequate for cell phone use.

I haven't figured out how to transfer pix from phone to computer. Nor, how to access email and web. But, that's not why I bought a cell phone.

I'll probably upgrade to a phone with usb connectivity and video camera in the future. But for a basic phone you know, something that makes phone calls, I have no complaints.

Have purchased two of these phones from Walmart for the NET10 Phone plan. The first phone must have had a bad microphone because the called persons could not hear the talking. The second phone was just the opposite, the called person could hear very well but I could not hear them talking. Took the second phone back and purchased a Motorola W409G Cellphone. Have been very satisified with the Motorola phone and the NET10 Cellphone plan. Have had to spend some time with NET10 operators to get the plans, phones and minutes straightened out due to problems with the LG phones and phone numbers. Would recommend the NET10 phone plan would not recommend the LG600G Cellphone.
