Night Owl Security APOLLO-DVR 4-Channel H.264 DVR with D1 Recording

I bought the one without a hard drive. Even if you aren't computer savvy this is easy to install yourself. The unit itself works just as well, if not better than described. I was able to connect it to the web VIA the ethernet port on the back of my cable box (ATT U-Verse). The net settings were a little complicated so I tried the customer support phone number that came in the owner's manual. Much to my surprise, they were EXTREMELY knowledgeable and helpful. They took remote control of my PC to set up the firewall for the DVR unit and walked me through all the correct settings on the unit itself. We set it up on my phone also so I can remotely view my cameras anytime day or night from anywhere in my Iphone. I've called multiple times since to have it changed around when I get new hardware or move things around and evertime they are just as knowledgeable and helpful as the first time I called. If it helps... their support sounds like they are based here in the US so you can ACTUALLY communicate well with them! All in all I'm surprised this unit was so cheap. It just works the way it is described. I can't say enough good things. The only bad thing is that Nightowl does not offer remote recording or backup so you have to make sure the box is in a secure place or that you back it up some other way. There may be some online companies that will do this, I just haven't looked around much because mine box is fairly hidden. If someone steals the box though and you have no backup, it defeats the entire purpose. That's the only complaint though, overal and absolute awesome deal and a great product. Exceeded all of my expectations.

This DVR is great for home surviellance, is easy to configure and all it`s functions described work just fine. The manual doesn`t say anything about how to configure remote viewing from iphone, but you can find the app (ASee) on the app store and the settings are easy.

Setting the motion isn`t as a review here described, you DO see the camera while selecting the areas you are interested in.

Definitely great considering the price.

I forgot to say, it doesn`t have an HDMI port as the title says.

Bought this item a month ago and it was working properly but after one month the mouse port goes bad and the front panel buttons won't work. Called the customer service and was told the item has gone defective. Cannot return this because it has passed the one month return window. So pretty much stuck with sending it back and have it fixed. Was told that repair time will vary from 3-6 weeks.

Terrible product!!!

Stay Away, its cheap but not worth the trouble.

So far, so good. I ordered it without the hard drive and installed a 1TB drive. I had the same one once before and it bombed just after the warranty expired so this time I purchased the 3 yr. warranty from SquareTrade. I have noticed that there are a few reviews that state you must download the files to view them. This is true if you connect to a computer but if connected directly to a standard TV, you can playback without downloading anything. As far as it not coming with a hard drive, I consider that a plus because I can pick and choose the brand and size of the hard drive I want. Nothing like a CUSTOM piece of equipment!

i would just like to say this is an amazing DVR for the price. just know that it does not come with a hard drive and to install one you need to remove the cover and inside there is all the connections for a hard drive (sata cable and power supply)and it comes with everything including the screws to mount it inside and set up is easy.
