Sony MZ-N420D Net MD Walkman (Blue)

Sony MZ-N420D Net MD Walkman

  • Record MP3s or CDs at up to 32x speed
  • Uses high-tech, affordable MiniDiscs (1 included)
  • Up to 56 Hours battery life with 1 AA battery

My husband has the white one ($99). He has had his for a year and loves it. I got this one(blue its cheaper, but the same model) for myself with some birthday giftcards from amazon. I love this. It does not skip or anything. I does take a little while to burn the music, not just drop/drag/ and go. But it makes up for that when you can put the number of songs on it that will last you for ever. And add to it the fact that the battery lasts a lot longer than in other players. My husband and I went through 2 different players before this one...lets just say we will stick with this player for a long time. We have his and hers players and love em. He runs and I walk and they do not skip. I also bought the carry case made for these and I love it. My husband just carries his as he runs, but I can't stand to hold stuff while I workout. I have run with it, using the case and it is so much easier. You won't go wrong with this player.

The Sony Portable Minidisc is a piece of pure digital craftsmanship. I recently bought one from the store and I believe this is best things I have ever bought. It weighs about 4 ounces and is very compact.

Each disc can store about five hours of music. The best thing about this player is that it records its own music. The mini disc is inside of a protective case so it makes it virtually impossible to scratch it.

The cd-rom that comes with the player has two different programs on it to use. The first one is called md simple burner and this allows you to burn straight to your player without any delay. The software finds the names of the song and burns the name of the artist, the album, and the individual track. Simple burner also lets you put songs in its own group and name the entire disc including each group.

The second program sonic stage takes it a step further. A person can personalize the name of each song such as "my favorite' or give it dates of when the song actually came out. Sonic stage lets you keep a media library, buy and download music and many other things. This is the only program I know that would let you remove certain songs without erasing the entire disc.

I would recommend this line of players to any person that is on the run most of the day but really enjoys their music. If you are not totally, computer savvy this is for you.

It is truly worth the cost.

Ok, first off the MD player does not convert your existing MP3s on your hardrive to a new format on said same hard drive, but only when transfering to the player itself. The format the player uses isn't called alltrack but ATRAC3 (Adaptive TRansform Acoustic Coding).

ATRAC of course is a proprietary format that is in compitition with MP3 and any music you download from site will be in that format, however I will restate that it is the player that does the conversion not the software on your PC. When you build your library in the software it just points to the MP3s. I would have seriously noticed if my 7.3GB of MP3s were duplicated on the drive where the software is installed since I do not have that much room left on that drive.

this minidisc is really good. but the only problem i have is that it is not compatible with online music stores.the antishock works perfectly, as i walk home everyday, i have never once had it skip on me. and as you may get the wrong impression from one of the other comments, the song title will keep displaying over and over again if you know how to do it. obviously that person did not read the manual. and also the display is perfectly easy to see. sonicstage is very user-friendly. it is not slow to load at all, i don't know what these people are talking about. the problem i have is that the wires are quite long and get in the way if the player is not in a bag. but the hi-md is much more worth the extra hundred dollars, as it fits much more music on one disc. and the discs ARE available in sony stores, probobly at your local mall.

I recommend this product to anyone that wants to have great sounding music with the control of EQ and all the settings that you would need on any receiver that you may have in your vehicle. The downside is that it didnt have the recommended drivers so I had to search for that but on the up end Its a GREAT product!!!!
