Do not buy this unit !! This unit uses a non-standard battery. It requires a R6 Double A (AA) battery. This appears to be a battery that was once prevalent in foreign countries, not the USA. This R6 AA battery is not the same as the standard AA battery that you would buy here in the US.

If you search Amazon for this battery and if you can find one, you will see that the battery has very low ratings.

If you buy this unit, you WILL have battery problems. There is a reason that this unit was once selling for $129 but is now selling for $44.

Considering the battery problems that you are going to experience, this unit is just not worth the headache.

I just bought the unit and all that I have now is basically what I consider to be an expensive paper weight. I am not going to sink anymore money into this purchasing mistake buy buying these old technology batteries with a less than stellar track record.

I hope that you will profit from my misfortune by not making the same purchasing mistake that I made.

A previous reviewer seems to be in heavenly bliss with his unit. With the battery problems associated with this unit, I don't know how they could be so happy with this unit. Kind of makes you wonder about the review, doesn't it ???

Excellent product which I use when walking with my dog. Iam retired and my Laborador and I walk 2 miles after breakfast and 3 miles in the PM.The only downside to the AIWA is the OFF button is so sensitive that it will turn off with a very slight touch.

The 1st time I purchased this radio years ago for the amount of $30 US dollars. I was pleased and fully satisfied with the quality of this product. This product which I purchased for more money, I had trust not to immediately inspect the product when I received it in delivery. Only to my surprise when I opened the box recently my cassette tapes wouldn't play. The slightest tension on the spool reel stops it from turning. This isn't the retailer's fault. It is a defective problem of the product itself. My recommendation is examine the product immediately upon receiving in delivery. Buyer beware some products are real lemons. Because of this I lost my trust in Amazon products in quality.
