Now here is the bad. The two hour charge is just that, 2 hours. If you want to record something and put it on 'pause', the battery will run out after two hours, even if it's not recording any sound or video. Standby still drains the battery, so you only have 2 hours of recording. It won't work (record) if you plug it in to a powersource either. Then, when it does record (when it's on standby), it will shut off after 1 minute, 59 seconds, regardless of whether there is still talking or noise going on! That is the worst.
To get it to work for any long term recording, you have to have a micro sd card. To turn it on, press power. To record with standby, press power and then hit the 'mode' button. It works, but it doesn't record more than two hours, so if you are trying to use it for audio surveillance, on say, a possibly cheating spouse or whatever, I wouldn't recommend it unless you know exactly when you are going to need it recorded, and then use it. To record, hit power, and then the little gray button at the top of the unit, hit it again to turn it off. Easy peasy.
The best thing about it is that it's rechargeable. I had bought another recorder that sucked up AAA batteries like they were candy and still didn't record anything that I could hear.
Anyone have a recommendation for something that is rechargeable but can last for more than 2 hours on standby mode? The battery is awful, it cannot be charged so I cannot take a video longer than 10 minutes. But I think the price is so cheap.

I just opened mine a couple of days ago (October 21st as I write). It was disappointed to see that it works with AmCap software, with which I have had problems in the past. The software for this particular machine installs and operates in Chinese -So there seems to be no way to use the device as a webcam unless one knows chinese. It comes with a handy electric-to-usb adapter, which has input 110-220 V. This is probably worth the purchase price in itself.
I shall update this review as soon as I have figured out how to use the device!
OK: Here is what I think about this device:
Considering the price of under ten dollars, I am glad the device works at all! I can use it as a videocam; not as a webcam (since I cannot work the chinese software).
The video quality is good; audio poor -you need to be standing very near the device during the recording in order for it to pick your voice up at all.
File size (MB/Min) is large compared to other devices of this type.
Materials and workmanship are cheap.
Accessories are great!

This digital recorder is tempting because of the price, but buyer beware: the buttons are confusing and it does not have a display so you never know if it's recording or not (you are supposed to be able to decipher that by how fast the lights on top are blinking). Unless you have a mini SB, this thing stays on for about 3.7 seconds before shutting off, even fully charged. The directions are poorly translated from Chinese to English and are just as confusing as the item itself. If you need this for something important, like I did (I am a reporter and needed it for interviews), then don't choose this recorder. Spend a few extra bucks and get one that will work better and be much more efficient and understandable.Want Digital Voice Recorder Md80 & Camera Camcorder Discount?
I bought this to replace my digital voice recorder. I was very skeptical at the price. I had seen Tue actual product pictured and was pleased with its performance. The product I received however was NOT what it claimed to be. I agree with the other real reviewer, if you can translate the Engrish instructions you can get it to record. I spent over an hour just trying to figure out how to set the time correctly. The instructions mention green and yellow lights, but ky machine only has red and blue. The video quality is also poor. It does require a lot of light. And outsideverything was washed out. The whore thing even feels cheap. I think thy are charging too much. My advice.... save your money and buy the real deal. They are 100 times better.
