It writes very well but very much useless afterall. I might have gotten a lemon. Tech service very unfriendly and unhelpful. At least I got the case so that I can put different drive in it. I used Pioneer A2(dead now) and Plexter but neither had trouble. I bought this because it was cheap after rebate but I did not even get the rebate yet almost a year after I sent my form. Go figure.
I bought this for my brother as a Christmas present. It took about two minutes to complete the set up (plugging in only a USB cable and the power cable), Windows immediately recognized its driver, and that was that. Product worked just like it was supposed to and the price was well below other models. If you have a better understanding of computers and you have a desktop PC, I would recommend an internal drive simply because they're cheaper, but this drive can easily be used by just about anyone.
