Wow, what's with the screen? I just got mine, and tried out various media in it. The screen is pixelated like an old TI we had when I was a kid, and I am not exaggerating. You would not believe that this is for sale in 2008. I am in shock. This is definitely going back.

Pros : Nice and compact with a very good picture. Inexpensive so very

good purchase for a child of 8 and up.

Cons: Sound is ok need to buy better ear buds. The ones they supple

are hard and they hurt my ears.

To tell the truth I haven't opened this product. I'm holding it to use with my grandsons on our next trip. I put I love it because I have yet to get anything from you that I haven't loved.

I purchased a GPX PD951BU 9 Inch Portable DVD Player and it is a FANTASTIC player. I do not know how it would compare to the 808BU here but the GPX brand is great. Any other review saying GPX is not good is wrong. I have purchased and returned so many. I tried RCA, Panasonic, Sony... all of them failed my expectations. They (RCA, Panasonic, Sony, Phillips) all had some kind of problem. Either it was no remote control, or the sound was bad or it would not restart a video where you left off. I tried DVD players that ranged from $70 to $250. This one. A brand I never heard of (GPX)is perfect. It has a great picture, great sound, a remote, it swivels (none of the others did that), it starts the movie where you left off, and it is 9 inches. I am beyond pleased. I highly recommend the GPX pd951bu 9 inch portable dvd player (mine is blue). I love this machine. It is easy for my son who is 5 years old. It plays dvd's that I made myself as well as those I purchased. I could not be any happier. And I bought mine used which means it survived the folks before me and my son too.

On about the 4th video, this thing quite working and started smoking! You know where there is smoke there tends to be fire! Not fun to deal with on the interstate. I called the company about it to report the concern and they kept telling me to call them back in a couple of days. When something starts to spontaneoulsy combust in my van, next to my children, you had better tell me something better than call back in a couple of days!

My last statement is... Buyer beware. Do you love your family? Don't buy this product!
