Transcend TS8GMP870 2.4-Inch 8 GB Video MP3 Player (White)

Transcend TS8GMP870 2.4-Inch 8 GB Video MP3 Player
  • 2.4" QVGA (240 x 320 pixel) full-color TFT display
  • microSD/microSDHC expansion slot with USB flash drive capabilities
  • Recordable FM Radio function with 20 station presets
  • Built-in speaker and microphone; Supports direct Line-In recording
  • Supports MPEG4 SP(Xvid), RM/RMVB and FLV files

I only purchased this item because of the line in recording feature and didn't expect that it's gonna replace my ipod. However It has a great internal capacity of 8gb and relatively user friendly. Just drag and drop and it will play. Once you turn it on you'll have to navigate using the navigation pad in the front but it is a bit slow to respond. I recorded a conversation to test the quality. It took a while to work out how to play back the recording. I also have not been able to delete this test file and wish that they would include an option in the menu to do this. I can't seem to change the file name for a recorded piece. If you record multiple lectures or meetings in a day, it just names them according to the date and them numbers them 1, 2, 3, etc. This makes it difficult to find a specific recording later on. May be the idea is to transfer these recordings to your computer and then change the file names from there. Anyway for the price and the specific function of line in recording I am happy with it.

Awesome little MP3 player with lots of capacity and a decent price. The number one reason I purchased this is the built in speaker, which is really hard to find on an MP3 player these days. Purchased to replace a Samsung MP3 player that also had a built in speaker, but that model was discontinued so I guess I have to try a different brand.

It has all great features of an MP3 player like large storage capacity, good sound quality (of course with a better headphone), various EQ modes, Bookmarks etc. Large screen display with song details etc is very good. MP4 quality is mediocre comparing with present day Smartphone OLED qualities. Once we are accustomed with those high video quality, we will not feel like even trying that (at least I don't use for videos). It could have some additional features like renaming file names, particularly mic and line in file names because one will not remember the occasion when it was recorded after few weeks. Ebook feature is useless, again when one is used to high end devices like iPad, kindle etc.

This mp3 player has an input jack, which is rare, and very handy. Plays well, has external speaker, which is also hard to find. Music saved to internal memory plays back nicely. The only drawback so far is that it is very slow if you try to play from a micro SD card. I have tried several class 10 micro sd cards with the same extremely slow result. I've decided not to bother with the micro sd card and just put my most important music on the internal memory.

This is the second Transcend MP3 I have owned, the other was the MP330, the only reason I bought the 870 was the screen was easier to read and it had a larger capacity.

The product is excellant and very easy to set up and use.

I highly recommed this product!
