K-Tek Topper Fuzzy Windscreen for Tascam DR-100

K-Tek Topper Fuzzy Windscreen for Tascam DR-100I use my recorders for radio reporting and have two of these K-Tek mini-muffs, one for the DR-100 and one for the DR-40. From a wind protection standpoint, I think they're fine. In fact, I use them even for indoor interviews as a pop-stopper (which you really need on these devices).

But one note of caution: the K-Teks are "secured" to the recorder with a band of elastic around the open end. I've found--particularly with the DR-40--that they come off very easily and you have to keep a close eye on them to avoid losing them in the field. The models with the velcro bands, such as the Rycote, seem to keep a better grip on the recorder.

And all of these products have a tendency to cover important features of the recorder. On the DR-40, for instance, if you pull the muff down far enough to stay on, it covers the earphone jack.
