Mini Sd Card Motion Detection Digital Video Recorder

Mini Sd Card Motion Detection Digital Video RecorderThis little inexpensive device works, I wouldnt say great but for the price you would hard pressed to beat it. The biggest issue is the supplied manual, it is written in a jumbled English that makes little to no sense. I'll give simple instructions hereto get you started. First if you require an NTSC signal (North America, Japan) You'll first have to format you SD card, use the supplied format tool because it formats in clusters of 32768. Now open and edit the file system.txt on the supplied CD. Simply change the 5th character from 0 to 1 then write this file to your SD card. With the unit pluged in and hooked to your monitor insert the SD card. Next press the funcation button, once you see the message "finished" remove the SD card and delete the file system.txt If you dont see this message press the recessed reset switch and wait for the message. The device is slow to respond to key presses so be patient. At this point it is now in NTSC, 320 X 240, mixed record. To change these settings press the mode button and use the click/scroll whell. Now if you dont happen to have a card reader writer on your computer the card writing reading can be done with the supplied usb cable (But I havnt tried that yet). Hope this saves you the headachs it put me through ;-)

BTW I rum in 640 x 480 continous mode and every half hour it writes a file of almost a gigbyte! Well 700 megs...

Works well with my security cameras. Would like to have a time start and a time end recording feature so not to capture times when not needed. Video is ok but not sure if it is the recorder or the camera.

Video is good and in color. Audio is very poor and the reason for the 4 star rating. By powering the unit in the continuous mode, and with an appliance timer I have a start time and stop time feature. A 5 hour recording results in 10 30 minute files. To upload the videos by the USB port the unit does not need to be powered by the ac wall outlet. The USB port on the computer supplies all the power necessary for the upload.
