Initially I tried to connect it to my home WiFi network but countless attempts failed. My router is too far away for convenient ethernet connection so I looked online for firmware updates but found none for my model.
I called Samsung Support and after retries following power down resets to my router and the BD Player they directed me to a download for the BD-F5900 model. I put the download on a USB Flash Chip and it failed to install with a message about not being able to connect to the internet. (Duh!) I downloaded the update to a CDROM and it also failed to start. (The online support and user manual coverage for downloading and running firmware updates could be improved!!) Samsung Support then sent me (via snail mail) a Firmware Update CD (ver. 1008.4) which loaded without a hitch.
With the WiFi connection running, but only at 2.3Mbps due to the slow DSL capability at my remote location, I tried watching some Utube videos with limited success. They play only about 10% of the time with extended delays between short scenes. The same video's play via the same WiFi on my Lenovo ThinkPad W500 notebook without any interruption. So I've now got something else to work on!! Also, interacting with the internet with only the remote as a keyboard/mouse inputting to Samsung's on-screen keyboard is slow. (I'm not ready to invest in a wireless keyboard/mouse.)
I have enjoyed playing both 2D Blue Ray and DVD Disks, and that went very well.
I'm finding this a learning process and am hopeful that this thing will eventually deliver better on its internet promises, but so far this has been frustrating and indicative of a product and support process not as robust as I expected.
