I bought this obsolete drive because it was one of the drive listed to replace the Western Digital dead drive in my Dish VIP722 DVR.Although I was sceptical it could record 2 HD tuner at once with the drive speed, it actually does the job fine.
I would not buy this drive if it was for a computer although I love Seagate for their reliability (except the green model) and no hassle warranty
It is a little thinner height-wise than the old one. Hopefully that means it will keep that drive temp down. The reasonable price and 2-day shipping were both big positives. Replacing the hard drive only required one screwdriver and took 5-10 minutes. Couldn't get much better.
Edit: Less than two weeks later, and the drive is dead already. My review went straight from 5 stars to 2. Luckily it died so quickly that I can get it replaced. If the next one dies, I'll have to drop this down to 1 star.Arrived on time, packaged well (box within a box to protect the HD). I am using this HD for a Zmodo CCTV system. Installed the HD, formated it, and is doing its job. Has only been operating for a few hours, but so fat so good. I will update this review if I run into any future problems.Bought as a replacement for a dead hard drive in my Iomega NAS. The hard drive arrived safely packaged and went to work immediately. Not much more I could have asked for.Buy this Hard disk and put on a dish dvr, work great but 20 days later the HDD fail it.Loose time,money.
