Stealth Cam Prowler HD IDVR with 54 Infrared Emitters, 60 ft Range

I live in the Northeast in a heavily wooded area, and I purchased the camera to take videos of critters visiting our backyard late at night. I mounted the camera on a large tree, low to the ground so that it's at the level of the animals. I've gotten great videos of red fox and coyotes in the yard. The images are high resolution and a lot of fun to watch. Low light sensitivity of this unit is excellent, and the weather seal is sturdy (the camera is right in the path of one of our backyard sprinkler units but has shown no sign of leaking despite being pounded with water 15 min/day, 3 days/week over the summer). This is a pricey, top-of-the-line, item, but if you can afford it, you'll get good results.

This is the second Stealth Camera I have owned. The first was stolen after two years of great pictures. The Prowler HD IDVR takes very good pictures. Night pictures are clear enough to count points on a 5X5 point Bull at 35 ft. The day light pictures are nice color and show all the detail you need for a scout hunting camera. The only thing it lacks is a viewer. You must have the SD card or the camera to view the pictures. I like this camera and would buy it again.

The video quality is excellent as you would expect with the HD. Having audio makes it so much more amazing to watch. Really makes it feel like you're out there in the woods. Battery life seems excellent so far (I've been using the same set for well over a month and the batter indicator still says full).

The issue I have with the camera is the trigger definitely seems more sluggish than with my other two cameras, which are Stealth Cam Rogues that I bought a few years ago. I've repeatedly put both the Rogue and the Prowler in the same spot, one after the other, and the Prowler gets far, far fewer videos. If you're a hunter looking to get only deer then it'll probably be fine because they seem to be big enough and slow enough to trigger the camera. If you're trying to get any and all wildlife that goes in front of your camera, like I am, then this camera is not for you.

This is a top quality camera, that has proven reliable over the last 5 months of use. It doesn't leak, has plenty of battery life, and takes outstanding audio and video of its surroundings. The optional battery is a must if you want lots of videos, and I suggest it. Currently, I'm using it for animal wildlife research, and it has proven to be very informative.

The only downside is that the trigger is a bit slow, and the temperature sensor seems to be inaccurate. Overall, a very good camera for the money.
