The product might have been ok but uawl want believe the story.I received the Tivo and called direct tv to obtain their card number that would start the service.
Every unit needs to be activated. The young lady told, after I gave her the units serial number that
She was not able to activate the unit. Why I asked? "THE UNIT STILL HAD AN OUTSTANDING BALANCE"
I was going to return it but the cost toWdo so would be $17.90. The unit cost was$43.00. This i the third time I have had problems with sellers other than Amazon Direct.
As I said in the beginning of the reponse the unit might work ok.

When I called DirecTV to activate the unit they said it came from an account that "was not in good standing" and they refused to activate the unit. I don't know why they refuse to let you use hardware associated with an account (I do understand why they would not let you use the old access card) but they simply will not.
So unless you're buying these used unit strictly for parts, consider yourself warned that DirecTV may not let you use the unit.
