Zmodo CM-S14346SV 1/3-Inch Sony Color CCD 6mm Lens 130' IR Outdoor Bullet

I feel quite sure this was the worse security camera I have ever purchased. I did not buy the camera from Amazon, but I wish I had. I would have stood a better chance of getting my money back.

The camera didn't come with a power supply. When I inquired as to what the voltage and power rating of the power adapter should be used, I was simply told 12V. 12 volt is not the power rating of the unit. To compare electricity to water, imagine the pressure of the water as the voltage and the flow of the water as the current, which is usually given in milliamperes or amps. A 120 volt LED night-light in your house is not going to have the power demands as a 120 volt air-conditioner. And power adapters are built to provide the required amperage at the proper voltage. After many inquiries and many Internet searches, I never was able to determine what the power demands of the camera were.

So I experimented. I hooked up a 12v, 500ma adapter and the camera didn't function well. So I hooked up a 12v, 750ma adapter and got the same quality. So I hooked up a 12v, 1A adapter with no improvement. And lastly I tried a 12v, 2A power-supply and the camera image quality improved unnoticeably.

The night vision on this camera seems to be non-existent. Although, I did notice that when some bugs flew in front of the camera, the IR LED shone brightly on the bugs. I don't know if some sensor triggered the increase intensity or what.

During the daylight hours, I can actually see something on the screen. But the image is out of focus. I have three small 30 IR LED cameras I bought that have much better night-vision and much better clarity during the day. HDE Day/Night Surveillance Camera Equipped with 30 LEDs is more or less the same camera on Amazon. (But even that camera has the problem of a hole in the bottom for sound to enter. And rain will enter if the camera is tilted just so.)

Buyer beware. I hope this review is read before you get suckered into purchasing the Zmodo CM-S14346SV for your security needs.

This camera have a good price, in comparation to similar cameras. I don't install it yet, but I'll hope that work well.
