This dual-tec device is one of the best. You would have to do something pretty stupid to get it to produce a false alarm. You can test both the PIR and the microwave functions separately if you need to. During normal use they work together prefectly. The microwave is k-band so it stays in the room really well...and no there is no way it produces enough energy to hurt anyone no matter how long it's in service.
