Vizio VBR337 3D Blu-Ray Player with Wireless Internet Application

Vizio VBR337 3D Blu-Ray Player with Wireless Internet Application
  • Enjoy 3D, Full HD 1080p from Blu-ray and DVD up-scale to HD
  • Internet Apps with built-In Wi-Fi (802.11n)
  • Enhanced 2-sided remote with full keyboard
  • Tray-less design for quick and easy disc play
  • Supports up to up to 7.1 channels of digital audio output via HDMI with Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Digital Plus and DTS-HD audio technologies

Purchased a VBR334 but was out of stock so the seller sent us a VBR337 replacement for less money. Very happy with this unit. Crisper, sharper, 3D graphics with its 1080P high definition, built in wireless N, and handy controller with keyboard. The keyboard is on the back side. Vizio could have put a sliding cover over it but once I learned to keep my fingers away from the keyboard, it's not a problem. I also purchased the Vizio M3D550SR 55" Razor LED 3D TV and the Vizio sound bar. What a combination for minimal money. The 3D picture depth makes you feel like your in the action. With a 240Hz refresh rate, there's no problems with blurring or fast motion. We highly recommend Vizio. They have come a long way in providing quality passive 3D at a affordable price and the glasses are the same as in the movie theater.

For those that have purchased the VIZIO VBR 337/338 BD Player here's some great news about the firmware updates! I was watching a dvd of the 1960's Tv series "Lost In Space"...after I ejected the disc a message came on the screen. The message prompted me to hit the GREEN button on the FRONT of the remote control for a FIRMWARE UPDATE! The FIRMWARE UPDATE was dated July 3,2012! I pressed the GREEN button on the FRONT of the remote ONCE and it said to choose OK to continue. After doing this the FIRMWARE UPDATE uploaded and when it was FINISHED it RESTARTED on it's own to reboot the system. Make sure you DON'T mess with the player power during the upload process! The UPDATE took about THREE MINUTES with my WI-FI connection. Here's the BEST PART after the FIRMWARE UPDATE is complete...ALL of my BLU-RAY discs that didn't PLAY before are NOW PLAYING including the FOX ones like "PLANET OF THE APES" Blu-ray Boxset and "STAR WARS" COMPLETE Blu-ray Boxset and others!!! A lot of people had this problem but now this FIRMWARE UPDATE takes care of all of that! I'm so happy that VIZIO now has this update to solve ALL of those problems and let's hope that's the end of that! This is great news which comes just in time for the release of "THE AVENGERS" on SEPTEMBER 25,2012 to DVD and BLU-RAY! I got the DVD, BLU-RAY, 3D BLU-RAY,Combo Pack! I wrote down the info I got off of the player INFO MENU once the FIRMWARE was COMPLETE.Here it is as follows.

I have tried five different streaming and Bluray players. My bedroom is the most remote location in the house and is behind a brick wall from my very high tech wireless router. I could never find my network with any of the other units. My first priority was being able to get to Netflix and Amazon streaming and then worry about playing my Bluray movies.

My research had said that Sony was the best player but at a price point of $130 and with the history I was having I was not ready to just jump and buy the best one on the market especially since I would have to wait a couple of days to get it from Amazon. It was cold weekend and I wanted to watch the last two Daniel Craig James Bond movies before Skyfall comes out.

I was at Target and this Vizio model was on clearance for $90. I had it home, hooked up, logged into both Netflix and Amazon streaming in less than 30 minutes. (The drive from Target is 10 minutes) Not only did it find my network it found another five secured networks in the neighborhood. I live in a big neighborhoods with houses that are far apart from each other. That is really impressive.

The Remote is totally cool. You have a remote on one side and a full keyboard on the other side. After years of using a full out keyboard some may have trouble understanding the old style "ALT" and "SHIFT" workings but after a little trial and error it works perfect. The remote is somewhat small so it would be easy to get lost in the shuffle.

Very streamlined look with digital display. If you are on Netflix it says that on the display. Same thing for Amazon etc..

The picture is super nice. It says up to 1080p Full HD but my TV is only 720. But still very clear and crisp.

I with this kind of quality I would have happily paid upwards of $130 for this unit.

Happy viewing....

Want Vizio VBR337 3D Blu-Ray Player with Wireless Internet Application Discount?

I bought this blu ray player at Wal Mart and I set it up very easily. I used an Ethernet cable and it found everything automatically. Good apps like Facebook (you have to go under the VUDU app for that) and Hulu and Pandora. I think its great for the price (especially with it being wifi enabled). I would recommend this Blu ray player if you want a nice wifi enabled blu ray player that has a good selection of apps available.

Device had a firmware date of Feb 2011, so I attempted to update it. The manual indicated that there was an option to manually update the firmware, but the option was nowhere to be found. I contacted Vizio support. They reset the device on their server and told me it would take 24-48 hours to automatically update. After a week, no update happened. I called Vizio back (third call), they started asking me a bunch of questions that had already been answered, so I have decided to send it back and order other device. I'll not be purchasing any Vizio devices in the future.
