Despite this little device being launched on a 932 cubic foot homemade hot air balloon powered by Tiki torches, which after reaching an altitude of 730 feet, caught fire and dropped the camera (along with the burners) into a 200' conifer, in a rain-forest, in the Pacific Northwest, during the month of February, and then not being found for another three months until after being blown out out the tree during a major windstorm and then randomly "stumbled upon" while laying on the forest floor, on the side of a ravine...

I pressed the power/control button...it came on!

I hooked it up to the computer...and downloaded an hour of aerial footage including; a fire, a crash, and my search party.

I purchased this video cam for a special project that I couldn't use my regular video camera for. The sound quality is outstanding. In well lit ares and day light, the picture quality is absolutely amazing. However, the quality is kind of grainy in night light or dimly lit areas. This little video camera is absolutely amazing. It records up to 2-hrs, no problem. I put it on my dash board and recorded as I drove, the video was unbelievable. I absolutely love it. So worth the $88 I spent on it.

First of all, I am a bit nuts to use this camera for surfing. This is my second failed attempt!!! My first was an Oregon Scientific ATC 3K that was heavy and bouncy and got ripped off my head by a big wave!! The POV has an even worse head attachment and I had to use a homemade jerry-rigged contraption wrapped around my head!!!

Also, There is almost no control on this thing and the minute its on, it starts recording. The biggest problem is that if you want it to be waterproof, you have to replace the rear cap with the silent cap, ie no sound. Well, I forgot and after one wipeout, the camera got water logged and died!

So why the four stars? Because despite all of this, it is a good device. It is tiny and weighs nothing. Before surfing, I did some test videos and it was cool (no high def or anything but clear images). Also, after letting it sit for a day, I connected it to my mac and managed to download the video of me surfing!! very fun video up to the doomed wipeout! The camera won't power on but it works as a storage device (I Now have an $88 four gig thumb drive.)

Compared to the ATC 3K, it was a lot lighter and smaller and I am almost tempted to get another one and try again. But then again, Surfing should be a spiritual exercise not reality TV!!

I purchased the POV MAC-10 to record my bicycle rides in case of any incidents with cars. The advertised recording duration of 2.5-3 hours fitted with the general length of my rides. I have found the compact size is terrific for mounting on a bike helmet but the mounting kit is a bit basic and it only took a few uses for the bracket along the base to snap off.

The video quality if fine for my intended use but is poor if you are interested in finer details of what you are recording.

My biggest complaint is that the advertised battery life of "2.5 3 hours of record time" is a clear case of false advertising. From the beginning I have only managed to squeeze slightly over an hour of recording out of the MAC-10. I tried a number of things to get more recording time out of it to no avail. In the end I contacted the vendor's support people to see if they could help. After some correspondence I was told the following information that clearly conflicts with their advertised specifications...

"Its a 280 mAh Li-Ion battery with expected duration in the MAC10 of about 1.5 hrs (+\.5 hr depending on conditions). His 75 minutes is about right. It's not defective."

When I suggested that 65 minutes (the best I can get out of it) is very different to the 2.5 3 hours they advertise I hit a brick wall. The support people will no longer respond to my attempts to contact them and unfortunately I am now outside the Amazon return/replace period so I'm stuck with a device that doesn't meet my needs and can't do anything about.

I wouldn't recommend this to anyone looking to record more than a hour of footage.

As advertised; The cam is easy to use, light and inconspicuous, performs decently. It is waterproof (take precautions and seal the threaded cap with teflon tape. DO NOT rely on the rubber o-rings to seal the cam) tho the actual lens is recessed in the housing. This is an issue as water will form a droplet within the crevice and ruin your footage. use of rain X did not help and the only fix would be if the manufacturer uses a 1 piece end cap/lense assembly. Low light performance is non-existent (much like shooting video with your cell phone in poorly lit areas). Audio recording is decent indoors but easily drowned out with background noise when used outdoors. I found leaving the sealed water cap (vs the vented cap) helped cut down on the noise. Mounting options are decent, but could have been better planned. Overall; This is a decent video camera for the money. I do not recommend for water use unless completely submerged.
