Pro: The cost

Cons: Durability

The biggest gripe about this product is that picture shown for the TOSLINK cable is not representative of the actual product. One of the reason why I purchased this cable is that it looked solid and durable. I wanted a cable that could last for a long time. The actual product is extremely thinned wire (cheap construction material) and it doesn't look anything like the images shown on AMAZON.

I bought two of these cables and they are perfect for my home theater use. As other reviewers have noted, optical Toslink audio cables don't need shielding or gold tips or anything, because there is no electrical signal being passed, only very fast flashes of light ... in other words, either the cable sends a perfect digital audio signal, or it doesn't work at all. These work.

Different cables vary on the durability of the cable in case it gets kinked, twisted, crushed or nicked/cut. These cables have a very thin outer layer, and I think they would break pretty easily if abused. Since these cables get tucked away behind equipment, they're not likely to get abused in fact, it's a plus that they are slim and easy to route.

Maybe you should buy a more durable cable if you plan to have it exposed and/or move it around a lot, like in a pro studio for instance. But for most people an inexpensive cable like this one is the best choice.
