Update on review as of 8-27-12 have been using this in windows 7. Once you adjust to touch on 7 it's ok. Gigabyte is working on win 8 drivers. Looking forward to it. I'm writing this on the tablet with the touch keyboard, not too bad. I'm changing this from 3 stars to five. Bought the battery and dock too. All are excellent. Buy and enjoy...I bought this so i do not have to bring a bulky office laptop whenever i need to present.also the OS is an easy fit for our existing company softwares.i also love the many ports available for me (there is a gadget that needs a Lan connector and usb,big plus)
The pros have already been stated in the previous posts.i will just add a few cons.
When you flip the tablet verticaly, the "mouse button" direction is not flipped (so Up will be left, down is right, etc)
The screen is at times too sensitive, will register even though you are not actualy touching the screen.sometimes it skips
4hour battery life so buy the battery extension (but it is a bit flimsy and made out of cheapish plastic that may come off in the future
If you arrange the icons in landscape, everything will be jumbled in portrait and will not return when you go back to landscape.annoying...
Its not 320 gig memory as advertised
To upgrade to 4gig ram,you have to change OS.
Dont expect to make complex reports and presentation.again,my purpose for buyng is just to have a portable presentor, not a laptop replacement.i still make reports in my laptop,i just transfer the finished report after.
The vent with hot air is annoying if you are right handed, but since im a lefty,no problem.
Cannot connect to broadband simcard using bult in 3g program
Leather case corner holders are flimsy and may break off
Camera sucks (well what do uou expect)
No rear camera (for next model, please put at least 6mpixel camera with software enhance)
Wifi slower than laptop
A few pros
Flexible battery setting (power saver vs performance) can achieve 8 hours with battery extension
Easy control panel type menu
Built in screen protector and no glare
Bottom line
Not a laptop replacement
Do not compare with ipad.i bought this because of the processor,win7,and the available ports.perfect for presentation purposes with minor report tweeking
Improve on the icon arrangement when orientation is changed.improve on camera, wifi antenna, and the gsm 3g program.
Buy Gigabyte S1081-CF1 10.1-Inch Tablet Now
The tablet is all that I could ask for.The case that comes with it isn't very sturdy. Only had it for a couple of days and one of the corner holders on the case broke. A few days later a second one broke. Would recommend that if you buy this, get an aftermarket cover.

The slate is what I expected. I wanted a windows based operating system. That is the reason for the five stars. The reason I am writing the review however, is that the suggested portfolio cover keyboard IS NOT COMPATABLE WITH THE S1080 SERIES SLATES. Amazon has it showing as being frequently bought together. The way it connects to the slate is through a usb connection. the usb sizes are not the same from the slate to the keyboard. The tabs of the case will also interfere with the function of the slate. That is if you could get the slate into the tabs that hold it in place. The tabs are not deep enough to fit over the slate. Buy the slate and opt for the factory case. Do not buy the suggested one for $14 bucks. It will cost you to ship it back.
