This drive runs very cool, is quiet, and is designed to run 24x7 under harsh conditions (Seagate says it is rated to operate for prolonged periods of time at up to 75 degrees C).
THE BAD
So slow that it's almost unusable as anything other than a secondary drive for storing content. You really don't want to put Windows 7 on this thing. Trust me.
I ended up buying an SSD drive for the operating system, and keeping this drive for storing recorded TV shows (Windows Media Center). Seems to be good for that.
Overall this is a good drive if you know what you're getting, and don't intend to use it as a fast desktop drive for your OS.I bought a "used, like new" from the warehouse and it had almost 2 years of 24-hours-a-day usage according to CrystalDisk. NOT like new; I returned it...it may be the used one for sale... Buyer beware.
