This adapter works fine with my TASCAM DR-05 recorder and should do so for a decent product lifespan, earning at least three stars. As a one-size-fits-all solution for many TASCAM recorders, it's overpriced and oversized for the DR-05. Per the tascam.com DR-05 specification, the DR-05 is "Powered by 2 AA batteries, AC adapter (optional: PS-P515U), or USB bus power." USB 2.0 (max load for DR-05 jack shape) bus power draws a maximum of 500mA (0.5A, per Wikipedia). The PS-P151U is simply a 1.5A USB adapter, with a bulky AC cord, marketed as "the" TASCAM power solution for the DR-05 recorder, which really just needs a normal 0.5A USB adapter. Amazon has all sorts of competitors for this product, once you know what you need. For use with other TASCAM recorders, go find out from their specs how many amps you need, and then find the adapter that best fits your bag and budget. For some TASCAM device, this adapter is probably the ideal answer. Not trying to corner the USB adapter market, I can understand why TASCAM has just one solid, reliable, if bulky adapter to support up to their most power-hungry product. For my DR-05, the PS-P515U is overkill, wasting money, space and power. Be green, save green and shop for a better fit.

Works well with my TASCAM DR-07MKII. No more wasting batteries. Because it is plugged into the mini USB port it asks you if you want the port to be used for "power" when you turn it on. Press select button and you are ready to go. It is a little expensive but I guess it will pay for itself in the batteries it saves.

If you own a Tascam DR-40 digital recorder then you must get this power adapter .... it is a must have accessory and works silently when using it ... no hums or buzzes etc ... highly recommended.

This charger is described as a charger for your Digital recorder.

However if you buy the recorder, and this charger, you cannot power the device until you go and get another USB to USB cable.

I was disappointed that it is incomplete.

I was surprised this unit doesn't come with a USB to USB cable. Look closely at the picture -all you get is the adapter and a power cord. You have to fend for yourself on the USB to USB cable. With a price tag in the high twenties, that's a real disappointment. If Tascam is going to charge such a high price for this, they should at least make it a turnkey solution so the poor customer doesn't have to add a trip to the store to get a cable before using the adapter.

This is my second adapter -because I have two recorders and need two power sources. The adpaters work fine, but I only give two stars because of the price.

Also, another review indicated the power supply is 240 Volts, and indicated that is a problem because America is 120 voltage. Mine is a 240V adapter and I have not had a problem using my first adapter in America.
