At the present price, this Archos DVR Snap-on is a really poor value when compared to the Archos DVR Station. The DVR Snap-on allows you to record and playback video through low-resolution Composite Video (RCA jacks), nothing else. The DVR Station costs a bit more, but it provides you with additional features such as:Record through S-Video or Component Video inputs (in addition to Composite video)
Playback through S-Video, Component Video or HDMI outputs
Connect to digital camera or portable hard drive through the USB port
Recharge battery through the included AC adapter
You even get a remote control with QWERTY keyboard, which is handy for surfing the web.
Last but not least, the 'HD Cinema' plug-in is included with the DVR Station but not with the DVR Snap-on. This plug-in enables you to watch MPEG-2 (DVD format) movies on the Archos 5/7. It is priced at $39.99 if you buy it separately from Archos web site. As of this writing, the price difference between DVR Station and DVR Snap-on is just $40 ($90 vs. $50). So essentially, you get all the additional features in the DVR Station for FREE!

I have not used it much but it does perform as expected. The DRV get the job done but I feel there should have been a base with this item to aid the Archos 5 in standing. Because with attach DVR the leg stand is of no use.Save 69% Off
