I often route for the underdog when it comes to DVD players. Most people usually opt for the name brands, but not me. I have owned a number of off-brand machines

over the years, and many have suited me quite well. This player is no exception. I was immediately impressed with the exceptionally clear picture, and bright colors I experienced when using the component video inputs through my older Sharp CRT TV set. This DVD player is a real gem. Although it is advertised as being a black player, it is not. It is a bright, shiny metallic silver color, and has a very solid feel to it. The picture is truly amazing, and not at all what I expected for the price. If you're looking for something nice that won't break your budget, this Haier will fit the bill nicely. With its wide array of features, and solid construction, you simply can't go wrong for the price. A very good buy.

After just receiving the DVD player (which arrived in excellent condition), the appearance is very nice. It is sleek and not overly large. For the price, this product does exactly what you need. We only watched one movie so far and after messing with the [very basic and not picture-adjustment-friendly ex: tint and brightness features) menu options and were finally able to view the first movie just fine.

No issues with the actual play of the DVD player, as it ran smoothly.

The only other issue we had was the delay between the remote and the unit. When you find the sweet spots on the buttons to get them to work properly, there is sometimes a delay and the 'selected option' onscreen will fly through the options to match the amount of times the button was pressed (so patience is mandatory unless you want to watch the 'highlighted option' go nuts!!)

Only had this unit s few weeks & it played fine,then the very day I threw away the box I went to play a movie & it would not go past the fbi warning,so I opened & closed it several times & finally went only to freeze up many times.Brand new movies to.So instead of ttrying to return with no box,I lose 40$ because I smashed into little bits then into the trash.I dont know if there are any good players out there that will play more than a few weeks or months,what a peice of crap!
