I bought one of these from Wal-Mart because of the ability to access the internet with your PC through the MediaConnect feature but was unable to download the required software from Philips' site or get any tech support who could help or understand what the issue might be with the Philips site.

The instructions tell you to enter a code found on a CD with the player. There is no CD. The set-up menu tells you to go to and enter a code you can find on the player's set-up screen.

I tried this multiple times on multiple browsers on multiple computers and kept getting this message:

"Wi-Fi MediaConnect has encountered an internal error. Sorry for any inconvenience. Please try again later."

No luck with either phone, chat or e-mail support.

I can't fathom why such a large international company can operate this way.

I'm done and will return the player.

ME: OK, I am done with this product. It's not your fault, but this is a poor way for Philips to release this, with no software and no support. Thanks for your help.

ME: I'll be returning it to Wal-Mart.

internet service reception irratic, sometimes comes through, sometimes fails. DVD player very nice HD. Tollfree support was excellent but didn't resolve problem

I bought this at walmart with my Vizio 3d TV and I must say the 2 of them together is a god send! I love love love I can update my facebook status and listen to pandora all on my tv all at the same time!!!all the apps work great! so I put another one in my cart for my big screen in the family room!

Want Philips BDP5506/F7 1080p Blu-ray Disc Player - Black Discount?

It plays movies with extraordinary quality. However, if you have a streaming service, the wireless connection is very slow and the movies will pause and buffer....I did not tried a wire connection yet but I assume that could be faster...

I have no issues with this Blu-Ray. Everything works so far. Netflix works well. Pandora streams fine. Vudu gives you a 5.99 credit which works. Setup on my network was very easy and no connection problems yet. I have this downstairs and my router is upstairs. Pretty extensive app base compared even to my LG 3D smart tv or Vizio 3D player. Customer support answered in under 1 minute without endless computer messages during my test call. The one person that left a negative comment about Media Connect did not follow directions. Aesthetics are nice and its not to bulky. The only negative would be a minor one. The remote could be more responsive, but still works good. Overall good value for what I paid.
