The Avid Technology Dazzle, from what I've gotten personally, is highly recommended. However, my experience with it, is mind blowing how bad it really is. Now, don't get me wrong, the Pinnacle Studios 15 that came with the Dazzle is great (pretty much the only reason I didn't rate this piece of garbage a 1 star), but the Dazzle itself, doesn't function. I've tried on multiple occasions to get it to work, however, every single time it shows that there is no device plugged in, or the it is unable to find the video source. This is extremely enraging, and I have no idea what is wrong with it. I've tried at least 10 contacts or phone numbers to call in and see what's going on and nobody has the correct answer, and on top of that, I won't get my full money back on this 80 dollar waste of money. If this device worked, it would receive a full 5 star. But, in reality, don't waste 80 bucks on it, like I did. Go get Roxio or Hauppauge video capture devices, because quite frankly, the Dazzle is horrible.
After receiving my dazzle the case seemed open (product case not packaging) and stapled back shut. There was extra staple holes next to where the current staples. I figured it might of been a miss order and opened it anyways. The software it came with was more of an annoyance to install and required (or so the instructions said) before using this dazzle. I did and after 10 minutes (give or take) of searching for my old AV hook up cables that came with my xbox360 I was all hooked and ready to do some test recordings. Or not, the software that came with it wouldn't find the xbox at first and after a reset, a troubleshoot or 2 later it was atleast showing up on my computer. Then no sound and it wouldn't let me record. After searching the error message I found out it was a webcam error message and looked up a fix. Nope still giving me that error so I switched over to my Sony Vegas (which I use to edit my fraps recorded videos) and tried to use it to record this "webcam" it found the xbox360 first try and said another program was using it. Well I uninstalled all the programs that came with the dazzle and tried again. Same error so I stopped and boxed it back up. I bet someone else got a dazzle with 2 extra staple holes now.

I DONT EVEN WANT TO DIGINIFY WHAT I HAD TO GO THOUGH TO GET GOOD VIDEO GAME FOOTAGE! Ive went so far as to try to give away to friends as a gift. The S-Video cable wont fit, plus pinancle studio works on occassion? Come on, i thought i was going to get a good moneys worth when i got this cheap capture card, now i have to live with it cause its to late to return it....Want Dazzle Video Creator Platinum HD - video input Discount?
I have used Dazzle products for many years with mixed results and reviews. This one delivered. I only use the basic functions so I can't comment on many of the features but I can tell you that it accepts many formats and most importantly for me it can output to VCD or DVD.
